Firewall configuration (kerio)

Post by titio »

Hello,

I have big problem : I can't play :-<
I have acces to taspring (lobby if I have understand). I can't even play agin AI. But if I play with human or stay as spectator : the game is lanched, there is the time count(30 29 28 ...2 1) and I come back to the lobby.

If I stop my firewall (kerio 4), I can stay as spectator. So I think that it is a problem of firewall configuration. I have test a few thing with filter, but it always wrong.
So my question is : how configure kerio to play TASPRING?

Thank

odd, you should be able to play AI games regardless of firewall configuration.

port forwarding requires ports 8452 UDP.

How are you connected? Direct connection via modem? Router? through a second computer acting as a gateway? Corporate network?

And what OS? XP home Sp2a? 2000 Business edition? Windows Vista beta 2? Ubuntu?

Thank for your help,

I have created filters rules in kerio to open port 8452 and 8200 in UDP and TCP as local and distant, for spring.exe, taspring.exe and springsp.exe (a priori, too autorized rules musn't be a problem, no?).
But the problem stays.

I am directly connected to the modem and I am under windows2000

Check if the modem has its own firewall ?

when kerio is shutdown, I have already acces to the game as spectator (spectaor to test) . I think that my modem as a firewall (or just routeur) but the modem can't be the problem because when kerio is shutdown (or disable), all seem OK.

Ah you have a router.

You must configure port forwarding on it 8452 UDP. If hosting check holepunching is turned on.

And be sure your modem is actually a modem and not a router with a built in modem, as modems dont usually have firewalls, instead you get routers with firewalls and built in modems.

sorry for the delay, I missed time

I have forward 8452 udp on my modem-routeur (but I don't think that it was the problem beacuse it's right when kerio is shutdown

so, the problem must come from kerio (i have created rule to allow 8452 udp local for spring.exe, I have also previously uninstall and reinstall kerio). is there nobody who use kerio?

thank

Just some advice. Don't use kerio. I used to use it well when I think it was tiny and they had winroute pro which was awesome for windows 98 as it provided a nice iptables style firewall.

I suggest using CHX-I or wipfw instead.

Turn off the windows firewall on your connection. That should fix you right up.

Windows firewall stops spring cold.
