I wonder if i'm spamming the forum by posting every 30 seconds...but i suppose thats how AF got post count

Anyway, the more i think about maelstrom's resource idea, the more i like it. I'll stick with that for now.

Also, everything is currently being textured in 3do because i already have the textures made and it seems pointless to UV map a bunch of colors. The only problem with that is no unit reflections or shiny blocks. :|

Good. Cause I too like them resourse idea...

And i just had an idea for a deadly lego attack type. Glue Bots! Super strong, but super slow, they keep their integrity by superglueing their parts together.

So we'd certainly like to see them

I am trying to think of different races, we'll need at least 2. And i think it would be cool for each race to have something special, but i suppose we could always stick with the 1 heavy, slow, expensive, but powerful race and the cheap, fast, light, mobile, fragile race.
Sure. Actualy, I created two races with a total of maybe 10 units, but they are all aerial units. One race is about average, while the other one is agile, light and cheap. Just ignore the titles and descriptions of the vessels on the web page.

This is the race temporarily named "Dark". They are fairly fast, and some of them have heavy fire power.

Type: Advanced Fighter (Lvl2)

Other vessels with finished models include: fighter(Lvl1), bomber (Lvl1), heavy bomber (Lvl2), high-speed interceptor (Lvl1), aerial sniper, submarine

The folowing is other race, Alien. Their weapons are mainly laser. This race features odd-looking vehicles.

Type: Heavy bomber (Lvl2)
Weapon: Proton torpedoes, energy bombs, light AA

There are more to come, but I have to upload them first. Or do you want me to send you the MLCad models directly? If so, please tell me your e-mail address.

I forgot to ask a question: when units explode, do they blow up into polygons or Lego blocks? It would be cool to see the blocks scatter around.

As a fan of Lego, I totally agree. Starting with the Bionicles, it is not the Lego I used to know anymore.

But do we have to use only the basic blocks, or can there be some new stuff like windows, hinge joints, technic axis, gears and pipes?

Yes, when units explode, the lego blocks will go everywhere

Of course we will use complex parts for units that need them. But the polygon count is already very high for the minifigs (though i could reduce it more, but it would look terrible)

The nice thing is that buildings will be very low polygon. The basic infantry factory is made out of ~10 cubes.

Those aircraft look really awesome! Are those actually usable models or are they MLCAD stuff?

I just got an awesome idea for the races! We'll combine the two current ideas.

The first race will be the evil, advanced government faction with high levels of technology and sleek, clean looking units.

The other race will be the resistance, who's units look as Zoombie described them. Because of their lack of technology and building resources, their units will be composed of old scrap parts from previous eras...but will be jammed and packed with them.

Also, crawling bombs will be a minifig pushing a wheelbarrow full of explosives.... runs in and detontates.

Hey, suicide bombers arent anything new.

Think about it, it would be hilarious to see a lego man running around with a wheelbarrow that is stacked 3 feet high with TNT.

No one remembers that space stuff which was introduced in 1989/90/91+. Space Police, Space Pirates, M-Tron, B-Tron, and what else. There even was a space train with a motor IIRC. That was cool stuff. Almost Everything from 1995/1996 on was not really the Lego you used to know and love.

Now that's nice isn't it? :9

Those are MLCAD models, rendered with POV-Ray, but you can actually build them using real Lego bricks, i.e. all of the parts exist in real life, and they do hold firmly together.

Ha! That's suicidal! I love it!

These are all of the renders of my completed models:
