Line move bug

Post by Das Bruce »

When doing some testing with EE i found that the spacing between positions given with a line move order take no account of the size of the unit, making it perfectly easy to get the smaller level one units in a line but impossible for the larger units which push each other out the way.

I'm hoping that this isn't too hard to fix so that they have footprintx+2 or something width instead of the current and could be patched in the next version? Please. :-)

Also, fix units trying to criss cross when moving in a line order. It's annoying to no end.

The criss-crossing thing probably has to do with Spring's pathfinding, and would be oodles more complicated to adjust than getting line-movement to take units' footprints into account. Das Bruce's suggestion is great though.

Try setting the group on repeat, though I'm not sure if it'll fix it.

That raises other problems.

One more thing i find hugely annoying is that the spacing of the units on the line is independent of the line length. This used to be different iirc. If i wanted to stretch my bots out across a valley, i could just draw a line all the way across and they would space out evenly across the entire line. Now they clump together in the middle at predefined distances.

This was much more useful the way it was before.

Ghosting even if not with unit models then with groundplate arrows ala RTW would be a nice addition but lets get the main thing done first ay folks?

No official responce? Hmm, well I could take a look at it myself, or I could study for integration tomorrow... oh fuck integration.
