How is mass calculated by default?

Post by Caydr »

What the topic says. What's the formula to determine a unit's mass?

You can set a unit's mass manually, but I'm trying to determine where a good starting point is. Trial and error is OK but I'd rather just know exactly how to determine it.

I'm almost sure that default mass == metal cost.

Yeah, it's metal cost except for buildings, which default to 100000.

Thinking of it in kg seems to be a good enough scale if you use the mass tag--so you might have a fully armored and armed foot soldier at around 100 kg (which isn't out of line), and it puts tanks at an appropriate and easy to read weight as well.

Of course, that's completely arbitrary, so..

That tag exists, or another with the same effect, read the other posts more closely...

He wants to know what 1 unit of mass actually equals. Ie, how much mass is required to stop a unit bieing blown of the mass by an impulse of 10 Type thing.

The Mass= tag works great, it's what I used to make the nanotowers not airliftable and the Monkeylord expensive but still airliftable.

They will when I'm done with em.

Thanks for the answers. I'm glad it is as simple as that. I was afraid it might've been some sort of crazy thing like metalx.5energyxbuildtime...
