Spring aborts while loading a replay

Post by Blechbuechse »

Hello there,

my spring aborts when loading some (but not all) replays. I haven't figured out yet if there's something in common with them. Same map, I'm the hosting player in all games.
The last thing displayed is 'Creating unit textures' - so it aborts either during that or when beginning to create the sky, can't exaktly tell.
Is there a switch to activate some debug output?
Anyone else here with similar problems?

I'd post a replay if it helps.

Greetings,
the tin can.

Would the problem be reported on the log txt?

Playing demo from C:\Programme\TASpring\demos\060820-DesertTriad-0.72b1.sdf
Became player 0
Number of damage types: 40
That's all the infolog.txt file contains. Are there more log files I could check? Or a way to force TA to create more output? (Command line switch? Environment Variable?)

I think there's a bug that causes this whenever you try to watch a replay you hosted. I don't even both trying to watch a replay of a game I hosted these days.

Are you running the replay from the lobby, or by double clicking the replay from the demos/ folder? Some replays that didnt work for me i got working by hosting a replay in the lobby, maybe you could try that?

Maelstrom: It happens in both cases :|

LordMatt: The problem doesn't concern every replay. I can watch some/most of the games I hosted. But not all of them.

Grr. The error must be tracked down. Because it's a free program, we even can fix it.

Regardless, it is my understanding that this was fixed in the SVN.

Try Hosting a Replay in the Lobby. Unter/ under the Point Host dropdown menu Host replay. I have the same problem. But with this trick u can load your replays without crashing your game (after "creating unit textures" is shown). Viel Spa├â┼© noch ... mfg realbonk

Damn! I swear I tried that before and it didn't work, however this time it worked fine 0_o. Well, looks like I will be hosting a lot more games now.

I'm pretty sure this is fixed in SVN. Try the dev build (or be lazy and wait for 0.73 and hope I'm right :P )
