What about other races?

Has anybody thought about or tried to add in new races yet? Could these races be added in with the content that most people are playing with as an addition, and not cause conflict when playing games with just arm and core? Im interested in seeing anything anybody has come up with on this subject

It seems to be fairly easy to add new stuff to the folder and play at once. The only thing, which also hinders all other modmakers, is that the textures won't show up, unless you port them in the right way... which is teedious.

Ground Zero also mentionned that Spring is much more limited on the limit of different texture. So a 3rd party race using gazillion textures can't be used in Spring. And also many unit scripts don't work well in Spring.

But this will involve a hell in balancing.

Anyone can contact the author? Or begin to make them work in Spring..(I don't have any idea of how it work)

All races have their own .exe right?

So how can we convert it yet.

But yes, I would like to see some races soon compatible with spring TA. That will be great. Orpherium race on TA spring *drool*

The vast majority of TA exe hacks are in the form of
add a third race to skirmish and battleroom
no cd
file extensions

all fo which spring is capable of doing without problems, it's just a matter of hanging sidedata.tdf and the commanders script in spring.

It would be great if a race was made/converted without TA's full version content...that way even people who don't own TA (wich in itself is a great game) can play in Spring. :-)
Perhaps SWTA, the lost legacy or some other race that has everything.

I'm busy porting SWTA. Converting a mod to Spring isn't as easy as dropping an .ufo into Spring folder. ARG THE BUGS!
