It is just - that everything is there... the Terraformable Terrain, the Effects... and i loved that Game.

custom resources
unit limits
unit conversion
area effect capture without nanospray
custom build animation
units having a physical representation
Harvesting code
Custom specialized weapons other than the dgun
Specialized weapon charging and max charge
World view
locked build items and worshipping
A key to make the unit dodge aka move.step to the side
The ability to set a unti as a lookout so it will 'ring the bell when it sees enemies' and a call to arms button that pulls all idle atatckers to that position.
The ability to make a building such as the guard tower where units can go inside and fire at a distance.
Greater effect for range->height.
Customization fo the weapons range lines
Customziation fo how the build impritn si shown, aswell as the light thignthat shines down and the array showing where units go in and out.
Support for untis generatign resources when in a house.

Just to name a few

Believe em I'd jump at the chance to get populous ported.

But by the tiem that happens the populous community will probably have their own 3D populous engine finished. There are already screenshots f a populous sphere world running in a basic version with a simple populous like GUI

I'd love it if spring engine were capable of modding to the point where you could recreate some of the old TBS and RTS titles that had me addicted for forever. I still want to do a realtime version of MAX sometime, but a massive amount of modifications have to be made to spring before that's possible.

Do you remember the Magic Words, sinking those Primitivs with House & Hord to the Ground of the Ocean?

@ Swiftspear: You mean the Mechanized Assault and Exploration - in Realtime ? With the the same powerfull AI the Turn Based Game had....
That would be unfair - but of course pretty cool... :o
