Use of Armor.txt ?

Post by TheBlasphemer »

Hi,

While doing some attempts to directly copy OTA content to Spring, I stumbled upon the problem that if Armor.txt is not found, the game will crash horribly...
However, the Armor.txt seems to consist of just a few variables set to 13 (magic number :S?), and mods run fine with an empty Armor.txt...

Could anyone tell me what exactly is the use of Armor.txt and if the game should be able to run without it ?

Thanks,
TB

basically it's a fudge factor file... it makes specific adjustments to the damage done by a given weapon to a given unit class(or something like that)... don't know why it's overtly required, probably just an SJism.

Go to the wiki section
http://taspring.clan-sy.com/wiki/Main_Page
to find information on alot of stuff, like messing around with mods.

More specifically, this wiki page is about what Armor.txt is and how to use it:
http://taspring.clan-sy.com/wiki/Mod_Development:Armor

Although that page seems to be somewhat messed up. Could someone try and find out what is wrong with it? Maybe someone messed it up?

I can tell you that it's purpose is to use the groups that are defined there for weapons beeing able to assign special demage to a group of units, just that. The numbers do not mean anything.

PRE TAGS DON'T WORK IN OUR WIKI! PEOPLE So that's what messed up the page... just start fixed format lines with an extra space.

They did when I posted them originally, otherwise a different format would have been used in the first place. I can't be held accountable for software upgrades breaking it...
