Xect vs Mynn Sounds

Post by diggz2k »

This topic is for Xect Mynn sounds, I am going to revamp the mod, but I need content and lots of it.
http://taspring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=6255

So I call to the community to help!

Make us cool sounds.
Yes I have Dr. Infernos pack, but I want more and better in some cases.

Xect are robots
Mynn are organic bugs/creatures

I will do all the sounds for all the units but I want really cool, high quality, GPL sounds.

Only send sounds that you have made yourself and are willing to see GPLed. By posting them you agree to let me use them in xect vs mynn.

This could be fun. Maybe your computer makes a good laser sound when you turn it on or you washing machine sounds like a robot commander. Go crazy with it.

Host your clips somewhere on the net and post the links here with any ideas you are having.

I will update this post a little later with specific needs...
We will need sounds for:
Being selected
Response to a command (Yes I'll go get myself killed, thank you sir)
Finished a command (I moved here and I'm done)
Can't do that (build or move or attack a friendly etc)
Under attack - I want a sexy woman voice doing these for both sides like . in EE props to Fang.

Post if I'm leaving out any sound triggers or conditions

You mean Creative Commons, there's no way to supply the sourcecode for sounds so the GPL would make no sense for that.

Remember Zergs? I can impersonate those pretty well, and other stuff, like aliens/insects maybe, I'll give it a shot, or send you my custom sounds pack, only robotic sounds though :P

As it turns out, I sound like a complete moron when trying to record myself... so yeah... I might get back to this eventually but don't count on me.

That is not the way to go. You need to modify the recordings of yourself, not use them directly. Apply some weird filters to the sounds until they don't look regular human sounds anymore.

I recomend Audacity as a moderate/good sound editor which is quite easy to use and has enough filters. I have done, in the past, sounds for the game Windstille (futuristic game in the style of Turrican. Those are hard to do, i must say, and my success wasn't very good.), and for the game Lincity-ng (these ones ended up very nicely but all of them are contemporary and easy to find).

For an interesting example, the sounds for Zerg Overlords in Starcraft are the voice responses from Peons in Warcraft II, but put through alot of filters to sound alien.
