technically it's Ground Control or Ground Control II with GC2 expanding on the dropship by allowing u to purchase upgrades for it like speed or better weapons but it was now targetable by enemy AA units.

and technicaly the ram ship was Somtaaw but obviously the Beast have an infected version.

And yes Zoombie there will be ranged units, the only reason they aren't being discussed is cause well... they work.

Homing weapons won't work either:

they have a smoke trail
they lag the game.

We need a melee weapon type.

Unless units move way too fast I don't think homing is important as long as the projectile speed is pretty high. A range of ~120 units works pretty well for melee, the only problem is that units still ocassionally get too close to each other and start pushing which would be pretty dangerous since they'd expose their back to the enemy. I think pushing happens when the hit spheres intersect, that means the hit spheres will most likely end up tiny for melee units but well...

Self damage wasn't an issue in my tests.
