Graphics card help...

Post by Zydox »

Hello.

I'm searching for a new graphics card to upgrade my computer, does anyone know of any good graphics card that works well with TA spring?

Now I'm using an ATI 800XL, and I'm searching for a new card for 200-300├óÔÇÜ┬¼ (PCI Express x16).

Anyone got any good suggestions?
Should one stay with ATI or switch to NVIDIA?

Ya, I'd recommend Geforce too, expecially in the high end price range you're working with.

I have one of these, and it works PERFECTLY:
http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/7600_Series.html
BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 7600 GT 256MB
(geforce 7600 GT, cheap, 99 pounds)

you can get it delivered to europe I'm sure.

Search for a gfx card that suports OpenGL 2.0.

All cards now suport DirectX 9. None suport yet DirectX10 and it wouldn't matter anyway if it did since Vista is more than 1/2 year away and hardly any games will be available using it for the near future. Also, and more importantly, Spring is beeing developed in OpenGL.

I've found another card now, in the same series:
ASUS GeForece EN7900GT TOP/2DHT/256MB DDR3 PCI-E

I think these are the main differences:
* PNY has a central frequency of 450Mhz, ASUS is running at 520Mhz
* PNY memory frequency is 1.32 GHz, ASUS is 1.44 GHz
* PNY costs 250├óÔÇÜ┬¼, ASUS costs 280├óÔÇÜ┬¼

Should I go for the ASUS variant? (I usually like ASUS stuff :-))

(Both cards supports OpenGL 2.0 and DirectX 9.0)
