Some Work in Prog

Post by PicassoCT »

Well its something - lets call it work in Progress, and i want to have your Opinion. I know it is dark again, but it is very Giger Inspired -

Image

Overview of the Map ( There will be no Metall in the Middle - but Vehicles Speed up, the closer they get to the Center > was a great suggestion from one of the Guys in this Forum)

The DetailMap - it`s maybee to Dark - but it looks very slimy.

The Strange thing is that Gigers Influence on the Movies did vannish with every Sequel. Gigers Main Influence is visible in the First Movie (that one that won the Oscar for Visualiziation)

Piccasso, not to take this the wrong way, but perhaps a abstract painting can't really...er...make that good of a map. To play on. That is it might look nice, but play rather not nice. If you get my drift.

If it makes him happy, then its ok. See creation is as enjoyable as playing is. Besides, Picasso, these maps remind me a lot of the spaceship ones in that ufo game...

Well, it won`t hurt anyone if i try?
And i will try it out - if the only working Strategy is Air War - you won`t see it.

I will also write a Disclaimer into the Name and Description on FU.

And if all that doesen`t help- the comunity can at least re-use the Skybox :-)

Maybee i should "Alienate" already Existing Maps like Castles or RiverDale... that way i would not have to care about strategic Problems... and mistakes.

Mmmh...

I think you misunderstood here. The problem isn't that your maps are unstrategic, but rather that.. Well see people like to play maps that are soothing to their eyes.

Picasso, I can never ever see actually what the fuck is going on with your maps. My LCD (and a lot of other peoples' monitors) are dim as fuck, and the great designs that are supposed to be viewed look like compelte blobs of shit. Yilith, to me, looks like a blob of dog crap.

I know it should be better; stained glass windows and all look great, and sometimes if i get lucky and a flash of epxlosion comes on the field, i see a cool pic - but it HURTS MY EYES

PLEASE MAKE THEM BRIGHTER <_< >_> >_<

As weve already explained like 10 times before, Piccaso is aware of his brightness problem, and it will be fixed in his next maps.
Hell, I didn't know what any of you guys were talking about either...Piccaso's maps look fine in brightness to me, perhaps because im using a CRT moniter? (ATI Omega problably helped to)

Also, piccaso, Listen to zoombie on this one. You GOTTA focus on the gameplay as much as the graphics on this one. Most of your previous metalmaps were kinda sub par. Release some big screenies of the metalmap so we can comment on them before you release the map. But looking at the minimap right now, I can already see the battle points and strategys for this one.

And brightness...remember the brightness.

Well here is the Height

(Only K-Bots can enter the LowerLevel -> and get a Speed + 2)

And the Metallmap

And a Combination of both

I am currently working on the Skybox - and try to get i with more light - and still in GigerStyle (I try to get this done with the DetailTex )

P.S: Something Completely diffrent -> How about a RPG Mod - 10 Players divided into two teams - one Side DungeonMastering - with classic Basebuilding and so one. The other with Single Unit going down the Levels like in good old Diablo :) Maybee you could even recruit those Ressources of TA Kingdoms -> My next Level will be something for this

Do I understand that right? You are going to make a map for a mod that does not exist and probably never will?

Why not ?

Or do you fear RPGs Players ? I wouldn`t have a Problem, if the Springengine + Mods not only meats and eats the whole Strategy Genre. If it can show Teeth to Diablo - why not give it a try

Guys, while some of you may be justified and right in your comments... I think you all are being a bit harsher than necessary. Picasso obviously uses spring mapping as his own canvas, and in that respect it's actually pretty cool.

I personally have created many terrains that none of you will ever see simply because they are for me only.

I don't really think he deserves to be treated like this is all I'm saying.

It's not like he's making sp33dm3tal octuplet
