We need:
Flares to be brought back. They were a cool concept and would rock so many mods....
Engine contrails for aircraft to be script controled. Like AF's nanospray, it needs to be definable in thickness, length, colour....
Spawning units via a script. You've seen in C&C generals, or in Red alert 2, where a unit is created as a weapon for another. This could allow for cruise missiles and the like....
Squads of units. Ala Dawn of War. I can't be bothered to learn to mod that game when I have spring with all the cool features apart from this 1.....
Upgradable units. Needs to be able to build components onto units, ala C&C generals. Also needs to apply to buildings.
Possibly seperation of buildings and actual units as types, so the unit limit isn't eaten up by your power farm....
Settable limits on units. Perhaps you only want to allow 1 unit on the field of that type. It should be possible to have a tag "Max player: 1" and maybe "Max overall: 1" where you can limit them to X amount PER player, or just X amount overall...

Yes flares are still here and are used in AA on teh scout and radar planes.
The rest of those are i think MTR (cept contrails which imo should be really low on the todo list). also most of those are a b***h to code i assume.
the sepreation thing for buildings and units makes up part of the game play in the ota based mods. If someone makes a massive complicated base of dewm+1 they won't be able to mount a large atack force. That kinda leads me to a thought i had:
I wonder what would happen if u set up a match in AA on a symmetrical map where one team/person goes all out attack as in no defenses, only econ and units, while the other goes pure defense who would win (assuming equal skill lvls, access to resources, etc.)?

How exactly could the defense team win? By not attacking?
