Minor request for fps mode modification...
In fps mode for a unit:
Could you guys allow us to bind a key to each of the three weapons?
Could you guys allow us to still see the model of a unit in fps mode... ie the arm of my mech extended in front of me? just hide the piece we are viewing from but show the rest? or something like that?

I don't know that it's going to work the way you think it will though - because the torso of the unit you're controlling doesn't necessarily face the same direction as you are. You can rotate your view faster than the turret turns.
Still, it could be useful, because then it would be easier to tell when the turret has finished rotating. :)

While we're posting request for the FPS mode, here's mine:
change the walking keys to forward / backward / strafe left / strafe right, and enable true mouselooking (i.e. walk in the direction the camera is facing).
Perhaps that way you'll have some benefit from taking control of a unit (for example, circle strafing in a Krogoth would be nice), instead of wondering which way the unit is faced and not knowing what the 'forward' button exactly does ... (*really* annoying)

Right, I suspected as much. Let me adjust my proposal: can we have a pseudo-strafe button that first changes the unit's direction so that is it perpendicular to the camera direction, and then starts walking forward / backward?
That way it is effectively a strafe button, and I just dig strafe buttons.

No. Mouselook is for turret. And as said, save for brawler and rapier, no unit strafe in TA.
But yes at showing the unit in FPS mode. The little representation with blue and green arrow at the corner is handy, but showing the unit itself from behind would be way better. Pressing C once would go in FPS mode with unit shown from behind, pressing C again go in current FPS mode, pressing C a third time would leave FPS mode.
Also, not sure how possible, but some limited mouse controlling with regular interface while in a unit would be nice. Just like out of FPS, pressing middle button toggle camera turning or RTS interface, pressing middle button in FPS could toggle turret control and RTS interface.

Most units have torso's or turrets that aim and fire. If you'd want to have that functionality you can't really change it a lot. Besides a flash can't strafe, even though it's a tank, so from the outside it would look really strange to see it move in a certain direction with a fixed turrent aiming at other things. Maybe we need a 2 person can control 1 thing mode. Where one does the walking or driving, while the other shoots. Because that's what the FPS user is currently trying to do, 2 jobs at the same time.

redfish, if you have ever played the game recoil you could come to love the cotroll it gives you. Personaly I don't mind it. I just wish we had backwards movement... ie the animation runs in reverse as the unit goes backwards. because frankly that would make it all very easy to controll your guy... like in mechassault.
