I'm a Freaking Genius!!!

Post by SinbadEV »

WARNING THIS POST IS ANTI-SPEEDMETAL

Okay, first of all I suck at TA more then most, and it's not that I refuse to learn, it's just that I don't really have time to (I post on the forums so much because I can do so from work), so this advice isn't for me(I only hate speed metal because I get crushed in 10 minutes flat).

HOWEVER MY EXPERIENCE HAS TAUGHT ME SOMETHING YOU MAY NOT HAVE REALISED, n00bs hate getting schools.

Here's what I propose as a solution:

School Teh n00bs!

Pick a day, preferably a day when there are 190 people idling in the lobby and only play speedmetal yourself. If you know so much more about playing then these nUbs you should be able to decimate them immediately... take on 3 of them at a time... give them 100% handicaps... make it as awful as possible... when they stop joining your games... join theirs... if they make stupid "don't attack for the first 20 minutes" rules follow them and brawlswarm or combomb them... use every possible lame tactic available to you to make them suffer... always offring advice on how they can improve their game, letting them know when you brawl swarm them what they could have done to counter it... when they call you a cheater, encourage them to watch the replay to find out what you did.

I'm pretty sure that would be a more effective deterant then whining in a forum they don't likely visit.

There is nothing wrong with speed maps, it's just the people who play them.

I bet most speedmetalers would school 90% of socalled better players. Speedmetal is different from any other map, the stratigies don't work the same way, the best units are totally different. Speedmetal is 50% macromanagement and 50% time usage. I see more newbs playing nonspeedmetal games then I see newb speedmetalers. Try it, all you'll find is that you have to spend some serious hourage mastering speedmetal to compeate with the better metalers out there.

I have no qualms going for a round of speedmetal when nothing else is open, while I spank people regularly on standard setups and am known as a good player, I regularly get reemed in speedmetal. It's remarkably hard to keep from estalling when you're so tempted to just shove units onto the map with all the metal income you have.

Swift is right. Like it or not, a "pro" (what a ridiculous term) speedmetal match is hard.

speed metal just turns into massive hour long games where at the end someone desyncs or the game crashes. speedmetal bottlenecks SO badly at the entrances to each base its pointless

A swarm of Krows 100 strong can't be stopped

We had an entire line of Screamers, and TWO lines of Flak.

Still got through.

what I don't understand is why someone doesn't make a super-high resource map with more interesting terrain, like multiple entrances (I mean more complicated than speedmetal duo, even.) Best of both worlds?
