Disable water effects when rendering the lightmap, this will use the sand texture for the water bodies on your map.

Forboding Angel: You get ImageImageImageImageImage cheeses. Great map as usual!

Someone has a new favorite climate

Hey, FA, don't you think it's been a while since we got a new small map? (wink wink, nudge nudge).

small as in 10x10 / 16x16?

Sure, just tell me what climate you want, desert, green, wasteland, snow? I have a new desert climate I've been itching to try out. It's a True desert climate, not a wasteland type. I love wastelands tho, they are so pretty.

I have a new snow one as well. I really like doing snow maps.

I don't do urban. Not until we have ways to place features other than dots. Fuck no. You have any idea how long it would take to place even 1 city block and get it right?

Forb, AF has a map exporter. Make a unit to have the house as wreckage and model, then have something go kill them so they leave the wreckage, and export the map.

You can export heightmap as well IIRC

I like the map and design, but personally I'd like to see some more maps that don't use the blatant mirror. Don't get me wrong, I can understand the advantage of using the mirror, and I think it definitely has it's place in Spring mapping. But I think it definitely suspends the realism a little to see two mirrored images on a map. While it is harder to do, and adds to the filesize to make an assymetrical map, I think they look better, and generally come off as more interesting. They aren't as perfectly balanced as mirrored maps, but I think this adds to the interest and variability quite a bit.

Anyway, the map is good, just a small rant about mirrored maps in general... Perhaps I should have started a new thread.

each side is not a perfect mirror. THe terrain is rendered as one piece. Each side is a little bit different.

See theres the problem, people don't want it strategically to be more than a little different, they do however want it to look very different. A tricky balance, but personally I'd take semitrical looking over crappy balance any day.

Besides, symmetrical is a lot of fun to do. Not to mention that lately most of these heightmaps are test for new climates. I'm in the process of trying out my new desert climate which should be pretty nifty.

It will be another 32x16 if I manage to get it looking like I want it too.
