Re: Spring 0.79.0.2 frozen on "Finalizing..." stage

I'm on a 64 bit platform . . . will 32 bit code work? If so, which would be the cmake parameter for forcing 32 bit code generation? Well, it would be nice to know the complete list of cmake parameters.

Re: Spring 0.79.0.2 frozen on "Finalizing..." stage

If the issue I'm having is due to some problem with the use of both cores of my CPU (or multithreading), I could try to compile spring for a single core use (or no multithreading), provided that somebody gives me the corresponding cmake parameter . . .

Re: Spring 0.79.0.2 frozen on "Finalizing..." stage

The memory usage increases up to consuming all my memory, then the whole system becomes barely responsive. The last 3 lines of the infolog.txt after killing spring are: [ 0] Finalizing... Spring 0.79.0.2 frozen on "Finalizing..." stage

Spring 0.78 was working fine on my platform: Ubuntu 8.10 Intrepid Ibex 64 bits ATI Radeon HD 3870 512 MB Intel Dual Core 3.16 GHz 8 GB RAM Since I upgraded to 0.79, I often get stuck when loading a game on the "Finalizing..." stage, after loading Lua scripts and before watching the map. Th...

Re: Tutored games

As I said in the "commanded team games" post, I mainly played BA and there is no teamspec option there . . . but since it is already done for CA, it might be easy to port it to BA. That would be a great feature to add :)

Re: Commanded team games

How is this different from using teamspec in CA and drawing lines and points with `? For any other game you could commshare and the effect would be the same. I mainly played BA; there is no teamspec option there . . . since it is already done for CA, it might be easy to port it to BA. Afaik, at the...

Tutored games

This is a big simplification of the "commanded team games" post: viewtopic.php?f=21&t=18185&p=340512#p340512 A tutor player is like an spectator that only sees and hears what the player he is tutoring can see and hear, not like spectators that see and hear everything, and that can ...

Re: Commanded team games

team games are only ever going to be even halfway interesting/good if you play with people you know who work well together. expecting random people to join a game and fall in line is wrong. even in a team battle because some times free for alls go into team battles without everyone wanting it. I am...

Re: Commanded team games

Ok, misunderstanding :P . . . well, you can see the alliance commander as a boss you don't feel like hearing, or you can see it as a way of letting each one to focus on a part of the battle so they don't get overwhelmed and do a better team work. Of course not everyone will be a good commander, as n...

Re: Commanded team games

My apologies if this post looked like a "task order", I started it with the words "I suggest . . .". I am myself a computer science engineer, have a job, a boss and a family at home, and I understand this is free software. I think the arrow and region drawing widgets would be fea...

Re: Commanded team games

I prefer to play 1v1 or 2v2 games than those 16v16 games because of the lack of team work, though a lot of people look for "DeltaSiegeDry 8v8" games. Maybe team work would be more feasible with this "alliance commander" role.

Enqueuable ownership transfer command

It would be nice to define an enqueuable ownership transfer command so that one can order a group of units to move, for instance to an ally base, and upon arrival automatically transfer the ownership to that ally. Adding this command to a factory could be used to send units as they are created to so...

Commanded team games

I suggest to define a military hierarchy for players of team games, which could begin with just two hierarchy levels: ally commander and team commanders, may be just calling them the "commander" and the "generals". Each particular unit could be called a "soldier". Gener...
