Blender is capable of importing from wings3D. Or wings is capable of exporting to Blender (i am not sure which way does it work).

i have nothing agaunst working for evo team as well ;) Just send me concepts, or at elast some deesscriptions, of race/technology/units so i get a general idea. You should also try asking for help on some forums (blenderartist.org perhaps). Maybe you find artists willing to make models just for prac...

this is highpoly version, target is 1k.

Unless you get someone to rewrite the specular, reflection and self-shadowing shader, to take normal maps into account, I wouldn't go highpoly at all. I am hoping this would ease a little uv unwrapping and texturing and maybe baking ao would give nice results too. I know nmaps are not implemented i...

For modeling and uv unwrapping i use Blender. Image is screenshot of blender window (cropped a little).
Called it ak, since on the sketch it's named ak. Later i am going to model all concepts from this drawing.
And yep, i hope that with textures it won't look so blocky anymore.
