A much better heightmap...
Here's a new map. It's designed to look natural and have small variations, while still being tactical and symmetrical. Height.png is the full height map. I can generate a much larger one without loss of detail, but the one here would make a medium size map. Graphic.png shows an example texture map, ...

Re: New Mapping Tool - "SpringMapEdit" - r1335
This is unusable! First off, your bat file points to nowhere- there is no java.exe in system32! I had to rewrite it to this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre6\bin\java.exe" -classpath springmapedit.jar;lib_win32/gluegen-rt.jar;lib_win32/jogl.jar;lib_win32/swt.jar -Xms128m -Xmx1024m -Djava....

Setting up a 2-player lan
EDIT: OK, seriously, here's a crazy idea: Every client has an option to create a spawn installer. For this installer, you can select any or all the mods, maps, and scripts you want installed, and they will be packaged and ziped into a single convenient, 1-file installer for whatever OS you would wan...

Lobby Issues
I tried to update the lobby, but it just failed at me. So I cleared out the folder and unpacked it there from a clean install, and it can't start because it doesn't have OpenAL32.dll. How do you forget to include a neccisary DLL? Why do people insist on using dlls? The only function of a dll is to n...

Sub-units/ design feasability
Would it be possible to have a unit designer of some kind that would allow you to attach components to hardpoints on a "chassis", allowing you to, using the same basic set of tools, create a huge number of possible units? For example, you'd open up the interface, select a chassis like &quo...

Re: Error at position 69 near "
I installed a more recent version of the game and it seems that Springsettings.cfg has been moved again. I did a quick search of my computer and was unable to find it.
What settings do I need to change now?

Re: Hacked!
Oh, that's not good. I just installed spring on my other machine with and configured it, let it find some maps online.
Then I restarted the machine...
And it can't find explorer.exe
Any chance whatshisface the hacker decided to really mess with users? Ok, so it's probably not related, right?

Re: Error at position 69 near "
I'm using the most recent version of the drivers, it turns out.
Seriously, how do I fix this?
EDIT: Oh.
I can't find that file, or anything like it. Do you mean general.cfg? That doesn't have a "shadows=" line. It doesn't even use that syntax.imbaczek wrote:springsettings.cfg, set shadows=-1

Error at position 69 near "
Whenever I try to start a game, it crashes out after loading and gives me this error: Content error Error at position near" TEMP temp; TEMP shadow, tempC" when loading fragment program file groundFPshadow.fp [OK] This has worked on this (and much worse) hardware before. I'm using a Dual-cor...

Re: Broken Links on Download Page
Ah, thank you. I am very glad that was not a Rickroll...
I'm curious; will the main page get updated someday, so that new users aren't lost on the internet like I was?
Again, thanks for the help. I feel so stupid not to have checked for a FAQ.

Broken Links on Download Page
Hi; I hate for my first post on a fourm to be a complaint, But I thought you should know that the Download Page is out of date, and has been for at least a month. I tried to get a new version back then, but the link was dead so I decided to just play Dwarf Fortress until someone fixed it. As I said,...
