Re: Balancing OTA like mods/games
Regret i think if you read a bit carefully you'll see basic is not saying killing your 10 ennemies with combomb/nap alone is easy and requires no skills. Just that air defense is based on guessing and luck because you construct an unit wich depending on the outcome of the game, will toggle between 1...

Re: Spring's Player Stats / Peak Hours
But our noob retention rate is still horrible :( http://planetspring.free.fr/spring/stats/graphs/graph_51_4.png I didn't interpret it like that. Tell me if i'm wrong, but if a newbie ranked guy stays around for even only 1 week, he won't be a newbie anymore. So what this graph is saying for me is t...

Re: Need a *A Spring video showing great micro/macro
Having to do so many mouse /Key strokes to do things you can do as efficiently in spring with simple combinations doesn't make the game more complex, just the gameplay.
I'm no starcraft pro though, i'm just merely pointing a problem in this argument.

Re: Comentated tournaments and real live tourney broadcasts.
I am not implying that i am ubarleeet pwnzor. I am a decent, not amazing player (when sober) but I have grown increasingly frustrated with the lack of competitive play/1v1s That's mostly BS, at least for BA (I can't talk for XTA) . I just spent all the day on spring, and played almost only competit...

Re: Extra rank weight should NOT be added to Veteran accounts
clans are cool, they mostly reflect one's involvement into the game. If you want to play good teamgames, joining a clan is a nice way to go, and if you want to join a good clan, learning how to be a good player prior to that is mandatory. And i true the fact that clans like to pwn random teams. You ...

Re: Getting pissed.
This topic sucks cause you guys are talking about comnap, not combomb, and comnap is a very much more effective strat by itself. The awesomeness of regret's strat is combining all techniques. But still, comnap is the key. I hate the technique but i have to say there is a lotsa skill in the way regre...

1 shield can still deflect two LRPCs forever, and for 3 LRPCs it will only let in 1 in 3 shots once its been drained enough, at this point you should be wondering how you let the enemy make 3 LRPCs and why they're all firing at you :P Why were both t1/t2 AA bots made amph and added to the amph fact...

Re: Make rankings optional?
hi Tribulex still hate me ? :D GET BACK TO WORK SLAVE. I WANT THOSE PEWEES SPITSHINED. Thats a really bad idea, now I can make not 1 vet star account, but 23452345987698237465 vet star accounts. I mean, its a great idea, but I would undoubtly exploit it quite severely, and that is what makes it so ...

Re: If I made my own mod, could I distribute the game myself?
Sure cops will take him from his bed cause he made a standalone mod based on a GPLed game. That's not about it. That's about respecting the work of spring devs. Although providing a link to the svn into your readme file will probably be enough, and allright with spring devs, if you don't modify spr...

Re: Interface Redesign
hehe you guys are being contradictory :P But that's no big deal since i know what i needed to. => The ai interface is still only in spring sources AI branch , it's not implemented in the mainstream binary release, and you can start coding with the new AI interface. i'm mainly a C / C++ coder so i gu...

Re: Interface Redesign
well thanks for the answer guys i mostly fiddled with reading some of KAIK and AAI code 8 monthes ago, and thought about doing my own set of experiments about skirmish AI's, maybe by participating to one of the existing AIs, since it seemed to be the most realistic way of contributing. Now i'm study...

then we must all do our utmost to find every possible advantage against the enemy You defined RTS playing . Re: player rank (agggrr!!!)
Maybe creating some tests that ensure that the player has some of the minimum skills. Like "build a +100m economy in less than X minutes" or beat X amount of AI opponent". It would not show who is the 1337 but could be usefull in filtering noobs. Don't look at addressing users from t...

Re: Bugfix release, 0.77b5
i'm sorry to be of bad feedback, but this replays thing is EXTREMELY boring. I mean, replays are a huge part of the gaming experience. The fact you can't watch replays between differents major releases, fine, i understand. But that you can't watch your 0.74 replays after what is said to be a bugfix ...
