Yeah, this is absurd.

My SpringLobby UI bugs went away with 11.10. I gained constant desyncs.

command cycle widget

A widget that made it possible to execute different command scripts with units. One would be able to record a command sequence, which is stored. A recorded command could be assigned to any unit. When the widget runs it gives the unit the order, and waits x amount of time, after which it executes the...

Re: Complete Annihilation News

Imo that's too much for banishers which can be appear in groups of 5-7 units (the old fx had ~150 particles). Are you calculating tota numers of particles spawned or average number of particles per frame?... The biggest drain here is the smokecloud at the units barrel, which can be reduced if anyon...

Re: Alla Poor Ca, I knew ye...

I understand you smoth, and i mostly agree. Some time ago i was astonished how much better the visuals were in eg XTA. So i decided to do what little i can, and try to cook up some better effects. I am not that good a coder, but at least i got some of the fugly default ones spiced up quite a bit. I ...

Re: Locking interface = bad idea

Heheh, maybe you need another widget, a "warning: beta" widget that just plonks a big warning on the screen during startup (similar to the commie widget) that explains "you're running the test version of CA - please don't hate us for anything annoying in this. Stick to the Stable version if you wan...

Re: Complete Annihilation News

looks good, but you spam too many particles I tweaked the nuke and remade the banisher effect. The particlecount in the nuke trail is minimal compared to eg. the resulting nuke mushroomcloud. Anyhow, none of these effects affect my framerate. imo the trail should be more like smoke, now it almost l...

New plasma effect for lrpc Projectile starts "sparkling" and progresses to an uniform plasma"ball". Was strieving for the effect like in the railgun test videos, where the projectile surface starts peeling off as it enters the air before it reaches a steady state. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1q_...

Re: Complete Annihilation News

While it's a good baseline to start from, including a custom "mass multiplier" tag for units where mass is obviously silly would be a good idea. There is already a tag for mass. The mass equation will be used in CAedit to normalize all unit masses. The reason we're starting to look at mass is it's ...

SpliFF wrote:You have 2gig ram and Vista. That cannot be good.

Vista is a memory pig, it needs 1gig just for itself. Maybe Spring needs more.

But as others said, your infolog does not indicate a crash.
Vista most certainly runs fine on 2gigs of ram. Anyhow, its strongly recommended to upgrade to win7

Thanks NTG, should have checked that thread before asking. Did get it and have no probs thus far with it. For me the ghosted building problem was the only really broken thing with this 80 branch left, so i'm glad its fixed now!

Re: Locking interface = bad idea

I really hope the day won't come when CA has blocked widget setup. The beauty of the spring engine is its total flexibility via widgets. I kinda see where you come from with the restriction, but before you put it in like it is (was?) in test version, implement some override method for users who know...
