Re: Ugly web site in Firefox on Linux

I'm using the standard size font. I don't remember my resolution off hand. I can't test anything since I'am away from home for the next week. Thanks for looking into this. When I get back I'll see if it's still not showing properly.

Ugly web site in Firefox on Linux

Hey guys, Am I the only one who doesn't see this web site properly? http://spring.clan-sy.com/wiki/SetupGuide The text on the page goes over the borders of the middle portion of the page. I'm using the Firefox (2.0.0.10), not IceWeasel, on Debian 4.0. This page is the only one that seems to have the...

Re: librtsplan

Will do. We hope to do a lot of work on it in the next 2 months, mostly using ORTS AI agents as test mechanisms. If we can in the time we have, we would like to create a Spring AI semi-concurrently to show that similar benefits can be achieved in Spring. When I come to learning how AIs work in Sprin...

Hi guys, I'm a researcher at University of Alberta working with Michael Buro. I've recently posted about the type of research I am interested in, and how Spring can be involved. Details in this thread: http://spring.clan-sy.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=13867 Those outline my long-term plans. Ou...

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

In other news I spoke to my supervisor and have a short-term plan for an abstract AI planning system that would work with ORTS, ortslite, and maybe even Spring. Since this is getting quite off-topic at this point, though, I will start another thread about it in the AI forums.

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

I didn't know there was a glossary for the acronyms, thanks, that will certainly help. I do know and understand the basic architecture, I'm just not familiar with the acronyms people are using on this message board. Also, it wasn't clear that CA was a mod. They don't even say it is a mod on the CA w...

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

Well, thanks for the link.. but the one-line description on the web site doesn't really tell me much about the game. How is this "different" than Spring + a mod? Is it a fork? Why does it exist separately from Spring.. eg what are its goals ... does it not have the same goals as Spring and...

for example CA autohost stay "open" while in game. So they are not counted.
Additionally CA creates new versions often and stats show only top 5 mods.
What is CA?

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

The writing of the code required to parse the data files or recreate them from the replay files is not a problem -- that would be part of the work I have to put in to get the research done. Suppose I started a league centered around this KP-only autohost, much like the current SPring league but only...

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

Well, even discarding <100kb demos, I have over a hundred Kernel Panic demos, just for the version 76b1 of Spring. So you'd get some data yes. But how much would you consider alot? Some people used to have KP autohost, maybe if they see that topic they can answer. I should mention that 100 games wo...

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

What is "UF" ? Does Kernel Panic use any of the original content from TA which makes it illegal to play if you don't own the content.. or is it all free? By "demos" do you mean videos of games played? I would need replay files in a file format that can be automatically parsed. Wh...

Excellent! I compiled 0.0.1 build 10127 and it works. You guys are awesome. Now if you wanted to be even more awesome you would convince the Spring dev team to use trac as well.

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

eriatarka: UofA is amazing. For anything research related to game AI it's the best place in the world as far as I am concerned. There's a large games research group here, lots of world-class AI and Machine Learning people here. Edmonton's winter is far from appealing, but once you get used to it it'...

Re: List of lobby servers?

Nope, and I'd like to avoid having to emulate Windows-intended software. :)

I just expected it to work. I will try it again soon(ish?).. I sort of expected someone else to be have been in my situation and for there to be a quick answer to this.

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

Ok, some answers. I went skiing for the weekend and was not around computers much. @imbaczek: Not that I know of, but I'd love to see it even if it's not me that does it. @Dragon45: Michael Buro is my supervisor, so I'm certainly acquainted with ORTS, but thanks for the link :) The only problem with...

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

What kind of research? Sounds interesting. Mostly AI research. We've done some work on decision-making by assessing the current game situation via look-ahead simulations. More details are in a previous paper http://www.cs.ualberta.ca/~lanctot/files/papers/rtsmc.pdf and a follow-up article soon to s...

Re: List of lobby servers?

No, I can't connect. Here's the situation. I'm working in Linux. I downloaded the source of Spring 0.76b1, compiled and installed. Downloaded the source of SpringLobby 0.0.1.10112, compiled and installed. I start SpringLobby and pointed all the settings to the right files. In the server field I see ...

Re: Any autohost for Linux?

Do you know who is developping the Perl one? I might be available to help with that or help you with Linux support for Springie. I can't give any promises yet though.. I'm a student and I still need to talk to my supervisor about using spring as the environment to do all my research in. If it passes...

lol good point.. my mistake. I keep thinking it acts as a dedicated (central) server for all the games as well... I'm used to a different architecture. :)
