Re: Why Consoles Rule the Earth (v. long)
That's all? OnLive seems a really big deal to me (if it works), and it will adress many of the points of Argh's original post: - No worries about hardware power: you want to make a new Crysis, but with even more outrageous hardware requirements? No problem! Everyone will be able to play it, from sta...

Re: Play Spring on low-end (/netbook)
Oops my bad. I was fooled by the fact that it looks so much like a typical handheld console.
Anyway, most Spring mods are too complex to be enjoyed on a 4.3" screen. Maybe Kernel Panic?

Re: Why Consoles Rule the Earth (v. long)
They say OnLive will remplace both gaming PC's and traditional consoles. Honestly I can't see how it will still be able to work once it becomes popular. And if it does it would be IMHO a regression for the Internet back towards a centralised system (a trend that was started by services like YouTube).

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind too, but sometimes you just can't resist... (and it's a great excuse to tell people about Spring).

Re: Perimeter 2 - the best or the worst game ever?
Strategy First releasing an unfinished game... Hmm, why doesn't that surprise me?
From one IGN comment:
BTW, wouldn't Perimeter 1 be a great mod idea for Spring?
From one IGN comment:
He's insulting Spring! And now, Perimeter 2 looks pretty much like a free community made 3d remake of some old 2d game.

About the Pandora: I can't imagine playing Spring (nor any RTS for that matter) without a mouse. Some previous topics concerning Spring performance on low-end computers: viewtopic.php?f=11&t=12703&st=0&sk=t&sd=a viewtopic.php?p=238975#p238975 viewtopic.php?f=11&t=15169 viewtopic....

Need a *A Spring video showing great micro/macro
To have some supporting arguments for a discussion going on on YouTube about how some management help (like unlimited selection, build orders, etc...) doesn't prevent a game from being "just RTS to noobs without skills".

You guys never cease to amaze me! I remember I was dreaming of something like that for Starcraft 8 years ago...
Now if only I could play Spring again!

GL_ARB_texture_env_combine on VIA Chrome9
Error at startup. With Ubuntu I have a garbled game/map/AI selection screen, then a crash. Windows doesn't even get that far. Delphi 3D OpenGL Hardware Registry doesn't list my card specifically, though there are several DeltaChrome cards there. glview finds the GL_ARB_texture_env_combine string Ins...

Re: Spring 0.77b2 Release
Talk about a coincidence! I'm finally back to spring after several months, and I tell myself, why not directly try the beta since it should be released soon anyway. So I follow the instructions, download and install the 0.77b1, but then see a forum post that there's 0.77b2 available. (AHA!) I uninst...

Re: Sudden performance drop on biggest maps with a low spec comp
Ok, I'm sorry, that's NOT normal - It's the start of the BA game in DSD, everything's fine 20-30 fps, then suddenly when nanoblobs or units firing are on the screen I suddenly drop to 1-2 fps!!! Why didn't I have any problems of that kind 8 months ago? I'm telling you - there's probably a bug in the...
