Yes i'm using a 64 Bit Gentoo (default/linux/amd64/2008.0, gcc-4.3.2, glibc-2.8_p20080602-r0, 2.6.27-git8 x86_64).
I guess i tried every AI and i got always the same Phenomenon.

Hi all, i talked about this Problem a little with wryoung98 via private Message, but i think it's a good Idea to post our Experience about this in a Thread so everyone can read it. Perhaps you know how to fix it or work around it. wryoung98 also has a Problem with the AI, i hope he'll also post here...

Hi, i tried to compile Spring from the GIT Repo. Compilation succeded, but when i start spring with ,for Example, Balanced Annihilation and "Empty Script" or Commanders, spring always hangs up in a endless Loop allocation up to about 3G of RAM, ending in the Error "std::bad_alloc"...

use gcc-4.3 and add #include "string.h" to rts/System/AutohostInterface.cpp This is only the Tip of the Iceberg. I did this Fixing once with the Effect that i wasn't able to play because "My Versions differs from the Server's one." There are a whole Bunch of this #include Lines ...

I am curious about your claim about CMake though. My box is an athlonXP 2500+ and SpringLobby runs ./configure in 2.3 seconds and when nothing needs to be compiled, make is complete in 0.3 seconds. So what do you mean by much faster? My CPU is only 1,6 GHz, and it took not only 2,3s here. I used KD...
