I believe those were RAY shields... stop high speed energy weapons but do nothing for slow moveing objects like Kbots or vehicles, or rocks and grenades/really slow artillery/mortars. PARTICLE shields stop any MATTER from passing thru the shield, like Rocks grenades artillery, and Kbots/vehicles. Th...

Ahhh... well I aought to start looking into that. I think a .DLL baised Lua/Python engine would make an ideal choice. (as in everyone who can read code can make their own AI...) although I don't think much can be done atm, as springs code is still in flux. a AI fork at this point would only hurt fut...

Lockup right before Game join in lobby program.
Which is agravating as the Spring engine itself runs just dandy on my system. Looks good too. The lobby program needs some serious time under a debugger and some code monkeys to have a go at it. Also, I officially disaproove of the '.NET framework'. Its big, probably slow and bloated. At least Sprin...

Java is actually Dynamically compiled now, not interpreted. So its 'faster'... still hogs memory. Also lets see someone NOT use object oriented programing for a AI. their code would become unmanageable in a short time. most Windows, Linux, Mac and Console programs are written in C++. A Lua engine wo...

FPS
Uhmmm, 24 FPS is the Cinema standard. 30 FPS Interlaced is NTSC TV/DVD/VHS/blah (actually its 29.9999..) 25 is PAL for European TVs. Quake actually runs the animation at 20 TA I have no idea but its probably 20 too. most VGA monitors use a 60Hz refresh SVGA 75 Hz to 85 Hz+ you can infact tell the di...

Scorched Earth
What happens if you have been playing a single smallish map for a long time? Would there be any land left to build on? this might provide quite a challenge after many nukes and other explosions have turned the playing field into swiss cheese. Imangine a map made solely of pock marked craters... like...

I guess its sortof a warning... nearly a year went past but with nothing playable.
looks good, but what does that count for in a game.

Why not just have split 'game' folders. or a standard MOD file format with everything packed into one big 'PAK' type file, ah la Quake. The current OTA meathod of having just ONE mod installed at a time must go! it seems that a multi-mod friendly TASpring would be great! You could simply have a 'Sta...

Well I think I had outlined all that in a thread somewhere before the boards got nuked... But basically the above PLUS: Unit marching orders (where its going, how fast, and a ETA if available) Unit building orders (whats its building now, and the queue) Unit meta status (experience level/kills/gaurd...
