Scripting / sfx question

In the arm_commander script (for the XTA mod) there is a line: emit-sfx 1024 + 1 from nanospray; I'm looking for information on "1024 + 1" and other codes like it. I have been searching without any luck and do not know where this information is defined, or how it is defined. I know that th...

No there are no missing edges on any of the models, that is just the graphic style of the renderer I choose to use (Penguin for Rhinoceros 4.0).

If your texture image is over 600mb just save it as a .jpeg and make sure that you change it from Texture.bmp to Texture.jpeg in the .bat file.

Dynamic Lighting / Fidelity

Are there any plans at this time or in the near future to implement dynamic lighting (not through LUA but modifying the base drawing code itself)? Also, in Supreme Commander, the glow effects known as fidelity is that different from dynamic lighting? If so how and are there any plans to implement th...

Aye I thought the wings looked quite silly as well.

I want the new models I make to look similar to the old ones (so people to some extent will recognize them at a glance) yet have a new look that differs from the original models.

Aye there are lots of tricks to UV mapping that I did not cover in this tutorial. This tutorial's main focus is on getting a working model into Upspring using 3DS Max, not advanced UV mapping. Lathan's advanced tutorial I'm sure will cover all the things I choose not to go into (i.e. such as advance...

I use .dds for both texture 1 and texture 2 wokrs great and keeps the file sizes small. DXT3 or DXT5 for texture 1, and DXT1 for texture 2 unless I have transparency then DXT3 or DXT5 for texture 2 as well. Though I'm not really sure what the difference is between DXT3 and DXT5 is, I know it has som...

What about unit textures like this for the Hacker side?

Image

Something like that will match the theme of the mod and look very nice to boot, while at the same time looking very different from the System's units.

Greetings Friends. Welcome to my 3DS Max UV mapping tutorial. In this tutorial I will show you how to: UV map a multi-object model. Create a hierarchy for your unit. Move the object's origin (pivot points). Export the fully working UV mapped model into Upspring. To start this tutorial you will requi...

No they are not. If you look at the 3rd screen shot you can see square reflections from the tree tops in the water. I remember seeing the same prob on your map BlackLake Swamp. :(

I found out a way to UV map all the pieces that make up a model at once instead of having to UV one piece at a time. But I tell you it was a pain in the ass figuring out how to do that.

Well with alot of hard work I finley figured out how to import a working UVMapped multi object model from 3DS Max into Upspring. 8) I don't have the time at the moment to write up a tutorial on how to do it, but I will make one within a day or two. Until then just know that it CAN be done.

Can't you combine/group everything together into one object in max and then UV map it? I don't know of any way to UV map a model in 3DS that is made up of multiple objects. If I join all the objects into one model and UV map it, when I split the object back up all the UV cords are screwed up. If yo...

Yes that concept drawing is my main inspiration. I saw that and thought now there are some designs worthy of some high quality units for spring.
