Re: Unit Reply Sounds volume...

Just to be clear, is there no way to tell Spring to not cut the volume on Unit Reply sounds heavily, but leave the weapons sounds normal? Is this hard-coded behavior, or can it be changed somewhere? To clarify, if I click on a nuclear silo, the "select" sound for it is almost inaudible, unless I am ...

Re: The cruise tag and nukes...

I think I have found a solution, of sorts. The nuke had turnrate set to 32768, which means that as soon as it peaked at the end of the weapontimer number of seconds, it turned straight towards the target. If I set it much lower, say at 3000 or so, it hits the peak, and then slowly turns toward the t...

Re: Unit Reply Sounds volume...

I've done some twiddling on the SpringSettings volume bars, but is there a better way than moving all the other bars down low and the Unit sounds up high? I think that is the only way. What game btw? You could bug them to change their sound volumes. Total Annihilation: Twilight. I suppose I could j...

Unit Reply Sounds volume...

Just a quick question concerning the volume of unit reply sounds: They seem to be *very* quiet, compared to the rest of the sounds. For example, my Commander shooting his laser is a reasonably loud sound, even if I'm zoomed out a bit, but the "selecting" or "walking" sounds for the Commander are ver...

The cruise tag and nukes...

A nuke uses the weapontimer to determine how many seconds it will ascend before aiming at its target, and at that point proceed in a direct path toward it, forming a sharp angle. In TA, there was a tag (I believe it was Cruise = 1) that would tell the nuke to go to its peak altitude, then travel in ...

Re: Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

OK, I've grabbed BA 7.50 as a sort of "baseline/foundation", and am substituting TA:T's values, etc, for each unit. It's slow going, and some units have more changes to make than others, but as suggested, this is probably the best way to proceed. There are some units I'll need to add, but on a case ...

Re: Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

Well, the first time I tried running it, I got a textures too many/big error:

And then the two times after that, Spring crashed:

Ideas?

Re: Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

While I know nothing specific about modding, i do know that the AA and BA teams (and outside supporters) did a lot of work in bringing the old ta models and whatnot kicking and screaming into the new century. I see no point in replicating their efforts, so I also recommend taking BA or XTA as a bas...

Re: Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

Spring has advanced WAY beyond mere weapon and unit limits, you should get an idea of what is available to you. I agree, but I've got to start somewhere. I figured working with something I'm familiar with, and then extending out from there might be a good plan. I may be gravely mistaken, though. - ...

Re: Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

did you try any Spring mods yet? for example BA? if you would like BA except balance, then it might really be worth to start with that. Well, the problem is that it's been 5 years since I diverged from AA, and I've made a lot of changes since then, mostly, but certainly not only, unit and weapon st...

Re: Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

So what's the mod like? Twilight is just a fork of Absolute Annihilation, so your usual big dump of random unit, with a focus on who care about looks, I got epic balance! Gee, I'm not quite sure how to take that, although it's not necessarily an unfair statement... :) From the TA:Twilight website (...

Re: Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

<extensive list of things to do> Thanks so much! I haven't had a chance to read through it all yet, but this is the sort of list I was hoping to find. After that the bulk of it will be ported. But you will have to spend a hundred more times to fix all the little things that don't work quite exactly...

Re: Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

Do you have any custom textures? That's a good question. Almost all of the units used in TA:Twilight were either OTA units or ones pulled from Unit Universe, although sometimes heavily modified. I focused most of my work on the balancing of the mod, and didn't really mess with the textures as I rec...

Converting/Porting a Total Annihilation mod over to Spring..

I would like to port/convert my Total Annihilation mod (Total Annihilation: Twilight) over to Spring, and was wondering if there was already a specific thread or tutorial that would help walk me through what is needed. There are a lot of tutorials I've seen while looking around, but many do not cove...
