| Summary | 0004252: dedicated server replays are put in unexpected folder | ||||
| Description | Instead of being in "demos" folder demos are now in "demos-server" folder. This causes problems with maintaining backwards compatibility with older engine version for ZK site. We only have one public folder for demos accessible from web. Why was it randomly changed? | ||||

Instead of assuming this was random, READ THE CHANGELOG. |

What "name" conflicts are you talking about?? I run most instances of spring-dedicated around here and im pretty sure there were 0 complaints from actual spring-dedicated users, so why the change? Just because you run it from same folder in testing and run into conflicts you decide to break existing infrastructure? |
SPRING-HEADLESS CAN ****ALSO**** BE USED AS THE HOST PROGRAM Of course you don't know this because in your little world there is only spring-dedicated, right? |
I know that and I also know that it's not used for that.. Besides you can always set folders we have gigacomplex way of setting writable and readable dirs, let that handle it instead of coding silly hardcoded hacks breaking standard structure and making "spring-dedicated" special case! |
"I also know that it's not used for that.." --> WRONG... The fact that you consider it a "special case hack" to separate demos recorded by servers and clients (which would be the standard structure EVERYWHERE ELSE) means there is no further discussion possible. Use a symlink for BC, problem solved, be happy. |
Fine stay happy on your ivory tower and keep adding features that actual users dont want and that only increase workload. But don't be shocked when people prefer to stay with older engine versions. (Symlink is not possible, IIS cannot "merge" two folders, code changes are needed) |
Would "actual users" include FabriceFABS (0003991), or is that group limited to just you? I'm sorry your MS webserver cannot handle basic features but if THIS is the kind of issue you want to stick to 91 over, so be it. |
