imo a driver-bug? can you make a screenshot of that?

does it help to disable firefox gpu-acceleration?

thunderbird moved to the same rendering-engine like firefox, so this was excepted behavior.

which driver problem do you have? for an different game, this seems to help:
"The solution is to use earlier nvidia drivers (195.81 or older), or 197.25 or later."
taken from:
http://www.quakelive.com/forum/showthread.php?951-QuakeLive-FireFox-crash-after-closing-joining-2nd-game

(ok, this is about crashes, but maybe it helps here too...)

did you disable threaded optimize?

it seems like this is no spring problem. your driver + firefox seems to have a problem...

I have this problem only with Spring.
I can play Battlefield Vietnam/Heroes, NFS World, Tremulous without this problem.

As I read to the end of your linked page, it is an error of the game...

"the OpenGL 3.3 support in that version has bugs which come to light with quakelive, causing problems after any initial run of the game client."

opengl 3.3 is a part of the gpu driver...

afaik Battlefield Vietnam/Heroes, NFS World, are DirectX, so unrelated. Only Tremoulus is OpenGL, too.

did you try to change graphics-settings of spring? try lowest details...

In Simple Mode:
graphics quality: medium
graphics detail: high
= no problem

graphics quality: very high
graphics detail: high
=dead canvas on firefox

Expert Mode: its the 1x AA
I can select more detail without AA and stable run.

many thanks!

i'm unsure if we can fix something here but maybe it will help others:
http://springrts.com/wiki/FAQ:trouble#After_playing_Spring.2C_in_background_running_firefox_window_is_white_or_gray.

does tremoulus have the problem with anti-aliasing enabled?

No problem with Tremulous and BZflag. In both games I configured high settings.
