Summary | 0002187: Units when built, no matter where, upon completion get teleported to the ground.
Description | For example, in my case, it's aircraft. In evo, aircraft get built on a very tall platform. Ever since 82.6, upon completion they get teleported to the ground and then fly up through the platform, whereas in previous versions they would take off from the platform. When a unit is created, it should be created in the exact spot and not teleported anywhere. For example, I have a plane in Evo that needs to morph into a submarine, if you do the morph in midair, over water (the morph is instant btw), the new submarine unit should fall from the air to the water through the water until it reaches the depth it's supposed to be at. Instead it is teleported to the ocean floor. This is ridiculous.
Additional Information | To reproduce, load up Evolution RTS, build an air platform and build an aircraft, and then watch the magic airplane's epicness as it teleports to the ground then flies up through the platform.

Update. It affects fighters differently than gunships. Fighters take off from the correct point but are angled down at about 45 degrees. Looks quite odd and it's hard to miss. As usual, can be replicated by building an airplant in evo and building the aircraft in it. |

could you possibly attach the two files defining these two units (thats FBI?) to this request? |

I'll do ya one better :-) http://svn.evolutionrts.info/evolutiondev.sdd/Units/eair/ |

Bump, this is a serious issue and should be fixed before 82.7 if possible. |
hoijui (reporter) 2010-11-16 11:13 |
do a diff of the two files, look at what is different, and start experimenting with the values, to see which one(s) cause the actual difference. start with the most likely ones (you know better then me). that would make it more likely to get fixed, then just bumping the report. |

Dude, spring changed. I haven't edited either of those files in ages. Months and months at the very least. Nothing changed gameside, it was spring that broke them. CT is also reporting this issue as well, and do I really have to take screenshots showing what is going on? Fighters for example, get built and once they are done building, take off at a 45 degree angle nose down. Gunships get teleported to the ground... |

how is this relevant to what i suggested? the other bugs that are getting reported, about 2 per day, are also mostly real problems. |
KDR_11k (reporter) 2010-11-20 08:59 |
Since this also happens with Lua-spawned units the workaround in THIS is to simply MoveCtrl the unit to the desired height. |

Hoijui, you suggested me fiddiling with unitdef values... I reiterate, it was spring that changed, not Evo. If you really want to contest that, then pray tell, why do fighters now take off at a 45 degree angle nose down? Didn't happen until 8.xx |
aegis (reporter) 2010-11-21 01:00 |
forb, he knows it was spring that changed... but if you isolate which tag(s) are causing the issues it's much more likely to be fixed in a timely manner |
Forboding Angel (reporter) 2010-11-21 01:43 |
It's not a tag that is causing it. I never said anything about a tag. Spring behavior changed and broke aircraft behavior. If a tag must be given to see some action: canFly = true, |
aegis (reporter) 2010-11-21 01:45 |
"Fighters take off from the correct point" - this is what he was talking about it's entirely possible a separate TAG is affecting this which didn't affect it in a previous spring version. |

This has not been reproducable in master builds + EvoRTS r694 for quite a while. Does not happen in head (863a045d4d71446793824f9e21cd96a0db80be54 at this time of writing) either, so assumed fixed. |

http://evolutionrts.info/random/spring%20aircraft%20bug.mp4 << please view. This is currently what is happening with aircraft in the current spring version. Also please update your evo revision, it is very very old. |

Retry build cb663ad8130255960c8fdee8123d4b4ed22383ad, and learn to write more accurate reports (for one thing, "teleport" implies instantaneous movement over large distances, which was _not_ the problem here and caused this one to end up in the non-reproducable bin until that video showed what you actually meant) plzktxbai. Also, you'll want to change that name&shame (or whatever it's supposed to be) forum policy of yours if you think you're going to accomplish anything other than antagonize us with it. |
