It happens and will (generally) _keep_ happening for any unit whose coldet volume's radius along the direction vector of an incoming projectile is less than the per-frame distance covered by that projectile. That includes even T3 mechs if they don't make use of raytracing, like the Razorback (when up against those Core HLT's for example).
