Summary0004132: Jittery camera panning on non-flat surfaces
DescriptionActually this effect is an overall thing, just not bad on flat surfaces.

Quote:
[02:01:05] <Floris> its hard to record this effect, but camera movement ist as smooth, even at 250+ fps
[02:01:24] <Floris> on 60hz screen tho ofc
[02:02:12] <Floris> http://www.twitch.tv/ruwetuin/b/477040440
[02:02:45] <Floris> if you do your best, you'll notice its smoother to move on the flat part
[02:03:44] <Floris> but even the flat part isnt as smooth as 94 would do it
[02:06:25] <raaar> i notice it
[02:06:33] <raaar> the scrolling speed isn't constant
[02:07:08] <Floris> spring always had this jitterry camera movement
[02:07:23] <Floris> before i upgraded my pc it was annoying with low fps
[02:08:02] <Floris> but the very ver yweird thing is that this effect doesnt occur when i stream anythign with the same pc via twitch

Camera movement always was jittery at low-fps (but no issue because of new pc) but 95 made it worse. The really weird thing is that when i tried to record this effect via game-capture and even via the webcam the effect didn't show up anymore. (so i captured the effect with a webcam via my laptop)
Btw: I always use ctrl+f2 camera mode

can you find out which setting is causing the lag?

--safemode overrides some config flags, see

http://springrts.com/wiki/SpringSettings.cfg

the config vars with non-emtpy safemode.

i would guess CompressTextures is a candidate for it.

when doing that, please don't use springsettings, please directly start spring.exe, click edit settings, change var, quit and then run spring.exe again to test.

@Floris:
does WorkerThreadCount = 0 fix it for you?

...or at least improve it?

heard from some guy that he has the lagging problems as well, he has a cpu which allows ~ 12 threads at once, and lagging was heavily reduced when he reduced to WorkerThreadCount <=4

as read in #sy, AdvUnitShading = 0 seems to help, too.
