Core Commander - Remodeled

Post by MR.D »

Here is mine, I havn't Uv'd this yet and just finished the base model tonight.

I have a ton of optimisations I would like to do with it.

I'm not going for the full blown Cinema quality one, which is likely around 5000 poly.

Going to try to optimise mine down to around 2400-2600 so it could actually be used for in-game to replace the aging Core commander model.

Here is my model of the CORE Commander at 3563 poly.

I'll upload the .Max file on request if anyone wants a look at it before I start optimising it.

The pelvis looks way too much like a... skirt but the rest is pretty good.

It is a Kilt you Ignorant  Of course Core is Scottish!!!
I request a Marilny Monroe Skirts - if the Wind Value of the Map rises the Skirt raises :)

Rattle as your samoian Lawyer i recomend you to take a little gulp out of the brown bottle.

meh.. I always though it was to protect the commander from Pewee raids where they don't belong ^^

With a lack of any real reference material, all I could do was guess at what the ass end of a commander really looked like.

What I wouldn't give to get my hands on the origional model... wow that would be awesome to see.

Well the pelvis section on the render doesn't look so much like a skirt.

When I tried to move the legs around to simulate a walking sequence, the back of the leg would clip into the Hip-guard thingy, so I extended it out a bit.

Well if I get this baby Uv'd is anyone willing to script it, it should be a matter of just scaling the parts and pretty much copy/paste from the ARM commander scripts(I'm guessing).

I'll get the skirt fixed and submit a new render soon.
Btw, nobody has mentioned if the Poly Count was too high, is it ok at around 3k?

Can you host your images somewhere more reliable? My machine can't access any of them, it just spends ages connecting to the site.

Seeing as the most ever will be 8 on the screen at one time (nearly impossible) than you could probably boost the poly up to like 8k if you wanted to. It just wouldn't be very lag friendly.

It's your ISPs fault AF then, they have routing issues. Clearing the dns cache might help as well...

In the times of WW1, the english used to wear skirts (as in the *english*, not just the scotish).

I found out in a documentary about WW1 about one christmas where some germans and allies(?) soldiers decided spontaneously to have a truth(?) and go play some football together. As it seems, the germans were laughing they're ass off when, while playing, they found out the english were not using any underware.

Rattle, my parents use AOL, and it isnt a DNS thing because the domain wont connect even if I try to type in the IP directly.

Aha, i got it going, apaprently there's a different command under XP sp2a to flush DNS.

I think the feet look a bit bulked up, and bits of the limbs just look like plain boxes, btu the otherall proportions are correct, and it looks good so far.

that looks 100x better than the XTA and AA core commander models, which looks like a chunky mechanical dwarf wearing a dress. at least now it has legs.

Give that man some manly pants instead of the skirt. Call it what you want people, it's still a skirt! 8)

You know what, lets call it a pair of Y fronts and get rid of the bit round the back, afterall it doesnt look like a skirt in the shots till you get ingame, and we're not exactly bound to replicate the OTA models with all their flaws and warts intact.

Give the core com and ass you'd be proud to kick.

Otherwise I cna see the skirt as the only issue in an otherwise perfect model.
