..:: Release ::.. Red Triangle Remake OTA-Style

Post by NOiZE »

After several attempts by other talented people i still wasn't satisfied. As I feel that the starting positions on the main isles are vital for the gameplay on this map. Also the metal distribution is a very important feature of this map, with a tidal of 25, metal in the water is really not needed. Also the amount of rocks need to be quite rich.

The texture that Forboding Angel made is beautiful, credits to him for that. Also i used the feature map Quanto provided to me so i had less work placing the features. Thanks for that. Also LanthanStanley get some credits as the rocks are made by him, I only changed the color of the texture slightly to fit the map.

The sky doesnt look purple it needs to match the water, and it looks ugly with that pinkish background on the purplish water, the colours should be closer togetehr if not to hide the edge a smuch a spossible.

To be honest the shots just look like you took shots of forebodings map at first glance..

I'd rather you worked your magic and remade the map and the tileset itself liek you did painted desert redux and some other classics.

The colour of a body of water is affected by the colour of the sky above it to a huge extent.

It looks fine but as soon as you tilt the camera the whole things starts to look a bit misplaced

yes to large bodies like seas and oceans but not the shallow water like we have on spring where you can see the bottom. in real like the colour of the sea doesn't match the sky very well. reflections are much much lighter then the actual 'colour' of the water or what's underneath.

submit

Tbh, my version is more conducive to a good game of EE. EE does not have metal makers, therefore this version/rendition/whatever with be absolutely superb for OTA type mods (because there is no metal in the water, however the tidals have very good yield).

It is quite well done noize. Good work!

Most water on earth is either brown or green... The sky is never brown or green.

Earth looks blue not brown/green from space

Most water on earth isnt purple when looking straight down and white when looking from the side.

And most water on earth doesnt let you see the bottom of it when you look straight down.

The majority of the water on this planet reflects the colour of the sky and its surroundings, mostly being grey or blue, sometimes with tints of green/brown from pollution and salts.

If anything the water here would be tinted reddish/pink.

NOiZE, I wish you'd tested your maps without shadows and other fancy settings ...

'Cause without those you can hardly see the rocks, just as you couldn't see the icebergs on your remake of The Cold Place.

Otherwise it looks fine (including the water). Haven't played it though.
