Gundam is too huge it makes my pee pee hurt!

<notcharliesheen> gundam is >500 megs, ouch my balls
<notcharliesheen> That is too much my balls hurt now, I wish I had some cocaine
Hello whiners, this could be you, but probably is not you, yet it whines like you, so it might sound like you, what is my point? This could be the bitching your candy ass sounds like when you are not the you that likes to say it is not you when you cry like a 12 year old. Look at this link now back to the thread, go back and look at the filesize, here is that link again. My point? In case you are still following me even though you are not the you that was the you bitching about filesize. You might have gathered that it is 1.4 GIGS and gundam rts in >500megs, look at your pee pee, now back at the thread, now back at me, you'll notice this thread has no pictures of your pee pee but if you could see pictures in this thread which contains no pictures of your pee pee you would see that it is small.

omg u guize pplz think 500mb is too big and liek its tiny cause i say so and liek guize laugh at himz cause i are teh smoth
no.

Smoth this thread is really really stupid.

500mb is pretty big, especially for some of us in Australia or NZ where internet isnt something particularly great to everyone out side of the CBD's

Also why are you comparing Gundam RTS to Modern Warfare are you honestly thinking your ego is large enough to even compare the two?

Indie game vs Professional Game studio hmmm...

Hell, i doubt all the models in gundam rts have anything more than two thirds of the poly count in a MW1 map.

Also you seam to be forgetting MW1 is: Engine, models, networking, lobby system and a whole host of other goodies (dont forget maps!) where as what is Gundam rts?

models, ui, and some code (a minuscule amount in comparison)

When i DL a game demo it tends to be alot more involved than an indie game of the same size. The demo contains a indepth tutorial (most of the time) some brilliant graphics and a good taste of gameplay perhaps even the first few missions of campaign.

When i DL a spring game i get no tutorial, no campaign and in GRTS case a developer who seams to insult people more often than offer technical help. (who also gets butmad and demonizes whoever dares to voice a negative opinion of his work lol)

Yet these aren't the lot usually complaining.
Echo419 wrote:Also why are you comparing Gundam RTS to Modern Warfare are you honestly thinking your ego is large enough to even compare the two?
Any sort of ego trip is in between your ears. I just picked mw because it was first off the top of my head.
Echo419 wrote:Indie game vs Professional Game studio hmmm...
irrelevant

I am sure apples are more red than limes.

Lobby and engine are not that big a % of the game size. Even so, I lol because the gundam installer includes all of this.
Echo419 wrote:models, ui, and some code (a minuscule amount in comparison)
Maps, music, sounds, I dunno, that which is normally included with a game.
Echo419 wrote:When i DL a game demo it tends to be alot more involved than an indie game of the same size. The demo contains a indepth tutorial (most of the time) some brilliant graphics and a good taste of gameplay perhaps even the first few missions of campaign.
I will some day include a tutorial and campaign, the rest of your comment is all opinion.

- No tutorial: see moddb, there is one.
- You never asked me for technical help.
- I have not demonized you 1 time in my response even though you are making very personal remarks about me.

You know when you download gundam you are getting something that is:
Work in progress.
Free(which is why I am not entirely motivated to give you some compelling campaign or tutorial)

I appreciate your fervor but step back, download gundam and try it first. your points leave out key things, such as the included maps. Which are half the file and that comes with it even if you do not do the installer option.

i agree with Echo419, but i'am not comfortable attacking/flameing a game developer in a game development fourm....especially when i'm not a game developer(oh spare me mighty mods)

i don't know why smoth thinks it is cool trying to publicly humiliate someone for complaining about how his game is just too big(espcially when u comepare it with the 20-40mg average size spring games have)

haveing a big game size is usually a turn off for most people....(hell i have not tried Static Friction because of it)

this thread has no place in a game dev sub-fourm....

call of duty is not good to compare against.
better to compare would be maybe age of empires 3 demo.
it is 400 mb, has two maps, two scenarios and factions.
also probally some intro, video for the scenarios + probally lots of spoken text + music.
so i guess its somewhat comperable.

Command & Conquer: Generals - Demo is ~400 mb too.

Somehow I have a feeling both these games would be ~100 mb without the videos and audio.

There is nothing wrong with disagreeing, everything wrong with flaming/attacking people.

Stop right there and take a deep breath. realize I was joking in the tone of the oldspice man.
nightcold wrote: trying to publicly humiliate someone for complaining about how his game is just too big
Yet said person is not real nor was that quote said. It is a paraphrase of people off hand dismissing gundam on filesize alone which I have read several of.
nightcold wrote:(especially when u compare it with the 20-40mg average size spring games have)haveing a big game size is usually a turn off for most people....(hell i have not tried Static Friction because of it)
Yes I can understand this. To be fair much of the base gundam file being bloated is the inclusion of the feature placer which is a part of gundam rts. However, that is only 1/4th of the size. The maps represent >1/2 of the filesize. When I split the features off into a separate dependency file the installer will be no smaller. So the inclusion of said features(level objects incase that was unclear) is going to stay and thus that part is still going to be large.
nightcold wrote: this thread has not place in a game dev sub-fourm....
this is a frequent complaint if I can call it that. I feel it does have a place here.

to be fair nightcold, echo has a personal dispute with me from the eow thread. don't let his ferver bother you, I suspect he means well.

not sure but still does not remove the point. I agree that the fmv is probably a good bit. I wonder if I can remove it using the mod tools and see how much of the demo the fmv is.

Even so. my point remains. This is merely a demo and 1.8 gb. most game DEMOS not talking full games here, are well over a gig. Is that point not relevant to you guys?

srsly, baaw about file size in the age of streaming hd movies is silly. Get with the times. If you can watch youtube, you can download a mod or map.

None of those that you listed contain music, maps, spring, lobby, and general smothy goodness.

Plus it's on rapid, you download it once and the updates are nothing.

And if that's still not good enough for you, don't download it.

Man look at me i am the saviour of all of you.

Baw Baw

Nixa (from NZ... BTW)

Edit: Oh, and if you're comparing Gundam to BA or TA based mods, it might almost be time to throw your old 386 away, we have the all powerful Pentium 133 processor now

Evolution RTS http://evolutionrts.googlecode.com/svn/ ... sdd/Music/

Zero K

S44 iirc

Also, in comparison to the games listed above, ours are light years more advanced.

A small download size (of a spring game) will much of the time indicate the quality of what you are downloading.

The only exception to this rule would be EE, and even then, EE is dated as hell.

You really mean to tell me that BA can compare with this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KlZLlRI8TRk ? If so, then I suggest glasses and hearing aids.

Australian Internet is one of the most expensive in the developed world on a price-per-gb scale apparently... I have no data to back this up but it's what people were saying a few weeks ago when the CRTC (canadian governing body in charge of internets) were exposed for pandering to our monopolistic ISPs.

S44 has no music or maps (in the main archive anyway, installer is different but atm we don't have one) and is still 85mb.
