Blender 2.53 beta released July 22

Not sure anyone cares or if this is the right place, but Blender just released a new beta. If you've not seen any of the betas, the Blender guys have been working on a drastically overhauled user interface. Most consider it dramatically improved for its increased user friendliness and logical layout. Of course, it also sports many cool new features.

Most blender fans are extremely excited about the upcoming release.

If they've improved the UI I might actually get around to learning how to use it.. it always striked me as confusing.

The UI is certainly a lot more slick. There are still a few bugs, but they're pretty minor. This is the culmination of years of work, so it's pretty cool.

My biggest problem is that, being so used to the old UI, the new one poses a challenge.

I completely agree with you.

Thankfully I've never been proficient with blender so it probably won't take too long to unlearn the old interface.

I hope your comment will get others who were repelled by the old UI to give blender a new try. Just don't forget it is a beta.

Hard transition for someone who's used Blender a long time though. Luckily almost all of the modeling side is hotkeys.
