can you self destruct your own units?

Hi i am trying to figure out if i can destroy my own units such as pushing a key and they will kill themselves because it get annoying when i have things i don't need like old airfields when i need space for new ones.

However depending on the game you're playing they may explode violently, leave a wreck, etc.

Do not do that. Better reclaim metal from them.
