We dont actual have TA...
Just noticed that we have TA mods, but not TA at all! :)
Someone should make a mod exactly equal to the old TA, except that I think that it should have deep charge launchers since in the old TA it was impossible to retake sea from land if your enemy had submarines on it...

Torpedo bombers required tech 2 AIR, and the other option would require the oposition to be very lazy... :)TechnoTone wrote:Unless you used torpedo bombers or dgun. You could even force-fire shells and rockets into the water to get rid of them too. And finally, you could reclaim them with air-cons.
Pelicans. Killing them with subs required a fair amount of micro or money spent on destroyers on the sub player's part. Eradicate the surface opposition then torp bomb/dgun/reclaim/whatever the subs.
Anyway, Spring still has some features lacking in order to make a TA mod that can be truly called OTA. Auto-targetting radar without a facility is still mandatory in all mods, aircraft still collide with each other, a certain tag hasn't been split off to allow hawk dancing, etc. Most other things can be accomplished or suitably faked already.
And for the love of god don't change any balance or add any units or anything and then call it OTA. The Necro can be fixed, that's it. I fully expect the Goliath to still die into the Diplomat corpse. That said, feel free to make your own OTA-derived mod, no one can stop you--just don't call it OTA.

I agree wholeheartedly.Gnome wrote:Pelicans. Killing them with subs required a fair amount of micro or money spent on destroyers on the sub player's part. Eradicate the surface opposition then torp bomb/dgun/reclaim/whatever the subs.

It's my cue to leave a topic when a forum mod is enticing a flame war.LordMatt wrote:While OTA was fun to play, and there's probably some nostalgia value, BA is a way better balanced game. A flame war, however, is my cue to enter. I'm a firefighter of sorts. ~~
Classic TA 5.5 was a fair deal closer to OTA than 5.6 is. If you want OTA balance, then use that as a base and just edit the health, E & M costs of each unit. Spring will alter the effectiveness of plasma weapons what with its crazy arcs and whatnot, so modify slightly to adjust. With not much over 100 units, porting the mod should be the work of a single afternoon.
For that matter, unless the names of the fbis are different, could probably just copy them all over from OTA. The work of 5 minutes. Don't modify anything that you don't have to - you'll just screw things up.
BA sucks.

Re: We dont actual have TA...
That (bold text) is why there is no OTA mods :) Everyone wants to mod it just a bit... and when 1 million people does that, it becames BA.manored wrote:Just noticed that we have TA mods, but not TA at all! :)
