just an idea if it is acutaly possible, make another entrance far away from you first entrance and has access to the same land your first one did. make sure it is straigh. build a presure plate at the start of the entrance and a spear thrower at the back so when triggerd the spear goes hurtiling foward going through each of the gobilns. and killing them. im not sure that it will acutaly go through the goblins though.

Chunks are what happens when your dwarfs are getting pieces ripped out of them during combat.

They're just chewed up lumps of flesh let them decay outside.

wouldn't it be great is you could go clay---clay workshop---kiln---furniture/trade goods it would be a good idea.

i also find ithard to find a place that has sand, rock, and river, trees, and a trade route at the same location.

But they are coming out of the butchery... well, maybe its because my butcher is inexperient :) I guess I will just set the dumbing area as a chunk-only refuse storage as well.

Nice to know about the globins, A corridor of weapon traps is exactly what I am preparing :) Will then bring siege weapons and stuff later on?

of corse there are chucnks going out of the butcher. you cant eat the (disgusting) organs so throw them in them dump :) (the refuse)

ive been addicted to this game. im smoking dwaf fortresss
in my bed room!

to prove it i wonder what potash and pearlash was because i was curious and i know all the materials in dwarf fortress existed in real life.
so i found out that potash ash is a kind of browny crystal. and pearlash is potassium carbonate in crystals. also dictionary is my new best friend.

Guys why cant i make DF scale nromally without stretching?
I was told that i need to change "black space" option in the init.txt to yes.
I did it its enabled but it doesnt happen in the game itself.
everything is still streched.

Maybe if you try a tileset... I remember I once got a tileset that made everthing square, but I deleted it because it ate 1/3 of the screen on top and another on bottom -_-

Then reading about traps I remember there was something about you needing animal traps to catch vermin instead of cage traps, what probally means you can catch vermin with animal traps... dont know how to get rid of flies tough :)

Have you adjusted the grid in any way?
That can cause some serious stretching if the grid dimensions are off.

To make DF not stretch things you need to make sure your tileset size, resolution, and grid size (from the latest version) all play together nicely.

First, what are the dimensions of a tile in your tileset?
For example, my tiles are 16x16
In the init file my grid size is [GRID:89:53]
so I multiply the tile size by the grid size to get the resolution.

No, it will breed like hell and you won't be able to get rid of them. At some point immigrants will bring a cat, and then you'll be stuck with them, but until then let your processor survive.

like the wiki says, you could kill the immagrint and kill the cat to prevent any harm. at the moment im building an animal trap to kill the ground criters but i cant get rid of the swarm of flies im aftraid. i wish there was some kind of insect repelent.

I suppose having cats wont be a problem as long as they are all male/female... but off course that will mean you need to be ready for some butchering in case a imigrant arrives with a oposite-sex cat :)

Vermin isn't a very big problem though. Having a legendary dining hall can counter just about every bad thought.
That, and dwarves can eat them to survive when disaster strikes.

In the old 2D version, they kept my 5 surviving dwarves going for a while when most of my fortress was burning down.
I managed to repopulate that fort up to 30 dwarves again when the goblins arrived full force.

Vermin also eat your food, but I find that crops last so long it doesn't matter (you'll use them before they spoil, so long as you have them on a stockpile). It's mostly meat that rats will ruin, so make sure you put meat and fish into barrels, or cook them.
