I just realised, Microsoft is shooting themselves in the foot. Why get windows vista (which will probebly cost about 500£ for a professinal copy, which is the only one worth having) if you have a console? If you only use your PC for net surfing and emails, you won't need DX10 for gaming. This means microsoft is practically losing 200£ for every person they convince to switch to console gaming :O
Oh no, don't worry. Once the X360 has hit its peak, you will start to suddenly see a lot of PC-exclusives. Microsoft was hinting at this already in their E3 '06 show - to paraphrase withouth any bias:
"In order to give PC gaming a shot in the arm, we at Microsoft Game Studios in cooperation with many other industry leaders such as [lists them off] have created a new label just for PC gamers. This new 'Games for Windows' product line will start delivering exclusive titles starting in 2007."
Probably not one of those words was used, but that was the gist. X360 has already had a year in its lifespan go by, and by the end of the year there will be quad-core "Conroe"ish processors available from Intel that will put the X360's 3 cores to shame.
Microsoft has got this all planned out, they're not one to just fly by the seat of their pants. How many consoles did they say they'd sold already? How many million? And now, a little over a year later, you've got two other consoles, Vista, processor, GPU, PPU, and other technologies on the market, rendering the X360 completely obsolete.
You want innovation? Buy Wii. You want raw power? Buy PS3. You want adaptability? Buy Vista. There's no place for the X360 in this, and Microsoft knew it a year ago.

Gamestop (no, not a typo, despite this being at gamespot website. hey look at that, it's one of those words with the same letters. I'm mystified.) says that most stores are only getting *8* PS3s at launch.

And, not wanting to let another opporunity for a PR disaster slip them by, they also just had http://www.lik-sang.com closed down for selling PSPs to europe before its official launch there - to sony employees. Lik-sang is (was) basically the do-all, end-all of import games and system mods/accessories. A really great store, I was a regular customer.Sony Computer Entertainment of America Co-Chairman, Jack Tretton, has commented that Sony may not even manage the 2 million units by the end of 2006 target it had recently set.
Speaking to Bloomberg, the Sony exec commented on the 2 million unit target, "The honest answer is it's more of a target." Tretton accepted that the company is facing production issues, mainly centered around the Blu-Ray drive. The overall target by Sony remains the global shipment of 6 million units by March 2007.
Sony has had a bad fall season with slow PSP sales, the PS3 European launch delay, the recall of faulty notebook batteries and the production issues facing the PS3.
Japan will be the first country to see the PS3 as it will launch there on November 11 while the U.S. will get it on November 17. Europe will have to wait until spring for Sony's new console.

http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3901Furthermore, Sony have failed to disclose to the London High Court that not only the world wide gaming community in more than 100 countries relied on Lik-Sang for their gaming needs, but also Sony Europe's very own top directors repeatedly got their Sony PSP hard or software imports in nicely packed Lik-Sang parcels with free Lik-Sang Mugs or Lik-Sang Badge Holders, starting just two days after Japan's official release, as early as 14th of December 2004 (more than nine months earlier than the legal action). The list of PSP related Sony Europe orders reads like the who's who of the videogames industry, and includes Ray Maguire (Managing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Alan Duncan (UK Marketing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Chris Sorrell (Creative Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Ltd), Rob Parkin (Development Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe Limited), just to name a few.
