There is no thing preventing combombing every single game... People combomb all the time. But often it just isn't a good idea.
And sure labshare works when you execute it well, but it isnt autowin by any means vs a conventional start. And 3 comms at same spot is not good execution...
Of course some maps really favor a shared lab or combomb at start or whatever map-specific cheese you can think of, but those HAVE been tried to an extent. Sure people still could easily improve the execution of them, but at the same time they would learn how to block them better.
But yeah people dont do their teamgame starts optimally most of the time. A simple normal start could be boosted a lot by doing varied starts and sharing resources. Like 1 player should probably do 1 or 0 mex -> lab pretty much always, if only to scout for those cheeses. No need to stall with 1 mex, when your ally can do 5 mex start with llts at the same time or such.

This horrid cheese should,IMO,be left for maps specificly designed for it like maps where a team's members all start really close to each other.
We don't actually have many of these maps but there are some.

What kind of cheese do you consider horrid?Gota wrote:This horrid cheese should,IMO,be left for maps specificly designed for it like maps where a team's members all start really close to each other.

Nothing wrong with lab share imo, games with them can be as good as any other. Some maps labshare just doesnt work at all though, so theres always the option to play those.
Of course theres maps like moonq20, where straight combombing at start is so strong in 2v2 like me and player demonstrated in the 2v2 tourney finals ~2months back. Its so hard to scout or attack the combombing team properly, or get to the wrecks if you dont have rez/air.
But on most maps if you get early combombed or comdropped, theres ways to block it and you can only blame yourself if you dont.
So I dont see problem besides in individual cases of maps/teamsizes, which is kinda unavoidable. Just dont play those.
