Anyone got any decent looking tall cacti? Models ofc, and not the ones in TheRock.

In return: pics and map.

Painted desert is an excellent simple concept. just flat with a few small hillsand one big one...
Been done a thousand times in many games.
Whats the point of redrawing a similar heightmap if you already have a good one?
Painted desert itself is unplayable now cause of its terribad texture and metal spot textures.

In general there are a gazillion excellent heightmaps done by fans of ta back in the day.
TA map counts are gigantic.
You can find a good heightmap for basically any style of play of any size.
You might wanna add a bit of your own flavor or more detail but the base concepts are there and are plenty.

... and that somehow makes Random WIP more important by the day. Survival of the designfittest, i presume. All those polys we got, all those shaders, and in the end, that old com is standing there, in a shiny new dessert, fighting it out with his lowpoly opponent from wc3 and c&c:generals. Grandpa im butthurt.

reading this thread has left me asking why is it that gundam is so darn unliked. I mean I try to make the models pretty detailed and they are moderate on polies. Despite the fact they are anime robots I cannot help but think for some reason, something is lacking for you guys. I mean I could go and do normal maps and I do read the compliments you guys post but people generally seem uninterested. Maybe it is because you guys have seen it over the years.

However, I am left asking, do the maps not look good enough? are the models too poor? The gameplay has more elements than ba(not trying to insult) and is getting more abilities with each release. So where is it that gundam fails to get your interest?

Honest answer:
Gameplay( I played a few games and specced a few more played by you pintle and others).
And no,not cause i want a TA clone.
Last time i played it, it was already with the 3 levels eco system I didn't like the eco system itself,I didn't like the fact you have very little motivation to expand as oppose to other games(i wouldn't mind if there was no need to expand at all just than you need to make proper maps for that sort of gameplay and replace the need for expansions for something else like complicate interactions within your base or whatever you come up with etc..).

Visualy:
I didnt like some of the animations on the bots and I didn't like the build pics and some of the buildings.
Visual thing is minor, the biggest deterrent for me was the eco system and its unfortunate you need to hear this after all the work you put into it.
I also felt there was a lack of cool factor though its a problem to change stuff if your game is based on some established lore.
I'd suggest to rethink eco and gameplay if you want to appeal to non gundam fans.

For me it's the gameplay. It's just way too micro dependant (and incredibly fast at the same time) for me. The game quickly diverts into controlling all your units by hand - especially when playing as Zeon you have to have spectacular APMs in order to be a good competition (while playing as Federation isn't all that better especially not when actually facing Zeon)...

The other thing I don't like is the base management. Well the system itself isn't bad but the main problem is that there's no real expansion or fight for map control. You just sit in your very single base and keep building several layers of walls around it so that a group of speedy Doms won't attack you from behind. That makes things a bit boring as it's just about units around a base or on the way to a base - the terrain between the bases could hardly be any more unimportant as it's just a distance to cross in hope of not running into any enemy...

In the end I also don't understand though while it's pretty much getting not played at all. For someone who likes microing his units this should be RTS heaven. You might want to create a topic of its own for this though so things don't get offtopic here...

I was not asking about gameplay I was asking about visual appeal. Seems to not attract attention enough to get you guys interested.
