true

can i ask for a short history???

also, i don't think what made Fang think what he thought is all that important(in the case of the points i'am bringing up)....but how sound it is and how it makes him behave....i'am not saying his actions/thoughts might not be justified

@Forboding Angel, have fun isolating potential players to your mod...i personaly don't think it is wort getting a new gff card it just to see some fancy lights...and honestly speaking, if i had a new gfx i prob would not be playing spring(well perhaps not as oftenly)

I will not type it out for randomuser21412(even though I have chatted with you before) because I have already had to type it countless times for other people. If you want me to give you the run down about it you'll have to catch me on mumble some time. No offense but I have a policy of repeating myself as little as possible because errybody wants me to give them all the details and there is a lot of errybody out there.

you can just quote yourself from the last time you said it(i belive that would have taken less effort than typeing what you just did)......i can't help but think you are trying to offend me on purpose

Think what you want but that is all on you to be offended for nothing. Forgive me if I don't want to do the same search you could do. Are you seeing the reason why I don't bother?

Person wants explanation, expects me to give it, search feature is available, wants me to do it for him.. etc.

Fact of the matter is for this particular thing you would have to read deleted threads to get everything that happened forgive me if I don't want to be your personal guide into the history of spring. It would be a long post and frankly I don't owe you that service. you can be offended by that but my time is valuable to me.

Well, since we're being snippy...

Evolution RTS is not a mod, it is a Game.

The the user's hardware is so subpar that it can only run the game on lowest settings resulting is a more or less miserable experience and having to diagnose bugs caused by old as shit hardware... I have lost nothing. Additionally, I am not trying to gain players from the spring community.

The last line speaks volumes about you.

Additionally, it is extremely selfish of you to attempt to block features from being added simply because you're too cheap to get hardware that can actually run the game properly. So instead of those features being added and you disabling them (you do know you can disable lups right?) but allow others to experience more graphical goodness, you would rather be a selfish bastard and bring everyone down to your hardware level.

Now, who's the asshole again?

+1 to Forb

CT is currently undergoing a massive (and much deserved) "spicing up" visually. I'm making custom CEGs and weapon textures for the various unit groups (everything before shared the same CEG) and I've just recently added a new animation to a unit. We also recently added the blob shadow widget and it has done wonders for the game. Sure, these things won't deal a huge hit to performance, but we do it because we want it to look nice. Just because CT is one of the (much) more simple games visually doesn't mean we can't try to make things look good/fun/cool.

I'm sure Forb (and the other skillful content devs) shares the same sentiment that I feel in that our work reflects ourselves and so we want to look the best we can. I am not in a financial position to upgrade my PC now either, and I don't even play with normal shadows! But as Forb pointed out, you can disable some of the things that deal bigger hits to performance.

Edit: I don't even play with the xta_outliner widget most of the time, and it makes CT look a thousand times better!

spring game makers are always quick with calling players hardware "too old"
My computer is old and some games do stutter.
Other games run perfect.
If game A shows me what the computer can do graphic wise but game B stutters for whatever stupid reason...I wont buy new hardware for game B. Instead I'll just not play it.

I feel in that our work reflects ourselves and so we want to look the best we can.
sure. But it must look good on the players computers. Not on your PC or in videos. That is the whole point.
If I had to turn off (imo must-have) stuff like shadows to run my game I would not feel good about it.

this will prob my last post here regarding forb and smoth(double teaming me)...i dont want to continue the flameing

@smoth, i can personally see two reasons for you extesivly going out of your way to say what you are saying the way you are saying it...rather you have poor social skills and dont know how to commnicate ur self at times without flat out insuting/offending someone(which i might add explains soo much of ur actions here)....or you are heavily going out of your way just to offend me and talk down from your high horse..... honestly spiting out 4 sentences about Fanger(notice i asked for a short history, none the less i already showed that his history is irrelevant to my points) takes up less of your "precious" time(that you spend makeing a mod/game/wtv for free and flameing people on the spring forms) than this...if "randomuser21412" is soo not worth your majesty's time, then plz dont talk

@Forboding, well i should make somethin very very clear, I'am no martyr. I can't help but ask for things from simply my own perspective/wants....honestly, i dont care if some players don't get to use thier hardware to it's full potential or not becasue of my request...and it is true that my intrests here is shared with much of the community..... and if you wish 2 iqnore the community here in hopes of bring over a player base from else where, well then i have nothing 2 say to that

only the unsynced part i think(?)
at least i think so from ie http://springrts.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=25600
Maybe that never was a problem with a billion GHZ and thus a "bug caused by old as shit hardware" as smoth calls it.
Thing is, the stuttering was not nessecary even on older hardware.

Ok wait a sec... Up until a few months ago, I had a nvidia 9600GT, which IS old hardware. I ran evo at a constant 120 fps with settings maxed.

My computer was and is still currently an:

AMD Athlon2 x64 Dual core 3 ghz
4 gb ocz ddr2

So as you can see, my hardware is at least 5 years old. The only thing I have changed is I got a new GTS450 for christmas.

If your hardware isn't at the very least as good as mine, it's old and shitty (not counting the GTS450).

Now please tell me, how the hell am I being unreasonable?

Who cares what's reasonable, people just point out some reasons why they won't play your game, it's up to you to decide what matters more - the guys saying it runs too slow, or guys who complain about too ugly effects.

Some of us are still running 8800GTS ;) Which is still plenty enough hardware to play most commercial games on high settings.

It's a silly argument as LUPS can be disabled anyway, if that is really the problem. Just as likely imo is that there's a rogue gadget eating your cycles, TFC pointed out that a single S44 gadget was responsible for 20% of his FPS or something, things have been much smoother in large (in terms of both players and units) games since that and another related gadget got a performance-in-mind rewrite.

If your graphics card cant handle uber high end features, dont block the features addition, ask for an off switch.

Maybe if we keep pushing coals into the fire, we can find another track, entirely? Like, what if i take the concept of EE- just the idea, and plug my own models into it, can it then be considered Fang-free IP? Or would Atari, i mean, the Fanger in the Ry catch up with you?

@the flamething- oh, it started already, and now its over again, night is going to be cold? Back then, in springs hightime, we used to have redhot threads- even when concerning water only maps.. people cant dramatize anymoar.

The reason I would want to change my name and the mods name and various other things has to do with the fact that there are alot of people who I remember constantly harassing me about this that and some other crap. (mostly about the models and textures) And If IF I was going to go through this nonsense again I would prefer to avoid having these people recognize me on sight assuming they are still around. Additionally if there is any stigma attached to EE I would like to avoid that as well. I dont think my thought process is wrong.

@ Forb, yeah I loved having you guys all around to play my mod, that was the hay day, ;unfortunately that fell apart after I took a hiatus and that is when everything went down hill. I enjoyed that early part far far more than I enjoyed the later part where I had no real support base and instead had random people popping in to give me shit all the time.

In your spring settings, unselect "Enable Lua Shaders" and that will disable lups.

You can also disable the different synced effects from lups.cfg in your spring folder.

If you are having trouble running EvoRTS you might also want to try selecting the compress textures option in your spring settings.

thanks, that is something i didnt know about. I tried all the other things. But dont want to turn this into a config-my-spring thread.

Forb, the unreasonable thing is that you seem to think the only reason for bad performance is computers not being able to handle the "graphical goodness" but somehow I read stuff like this all the time:
