I think the jpg shows the differences just fine, myself...

The reason i used the grey box is because you can clearly tell the difference, argh. I cannot tell the difference between your shots at all, other than some noise on the ground: the cars look totally identical to me.

Ill take a look at that NVDXT stuff, but considering how much of a massive difference LoDbias -2 makes (I've been playing with it, its like a whole new game), something just has to be done about how early mip levels kick in, unless the .dds file contains info on what mip level should be used.

Though better quality mips will always help.

now that you can change the LOD bias on the fly in the next version you might as well increase the threshold where mips kick in by distance from the camera or FPS for example

you have to make sure that it isn't clamped (i.e. no negative LOD bias) in the driver however
