Yeah but that circlish formation...So old..

I'm a bit tired of the symmetrically shaped FFA maps.
There is only so much you can do with them.

symmetrical ffa maps simply give you as many symmetrical pie slices as there are players, so yeah not much variation as player amount increases.
asymmetrical ffa's are interesting, but pay a lot of attention to what will balance the asymmetry - for example, if a player starts in a corner they have a marked advantage, so deplete their metal or give them less terrain cover for their base. conversely, if a player is in the middle of the map, they need more metal and/or more defensible terrain.

I really dont think thats true.KaiserJ wrote: artturi has done some amazing work, and yet his maps see very little play time in general... so i don't blame him if he hangs up his mapping hat.
Just look at folsom or therock.
Also this map has some limited radial symmetry.
As player count grows, it becomes exponentially harder to balance an assymetric ffa map, especially for playercounts lower than what it was made for.
Its not a bad idea to try and find something that hasnt been done before, or something that fills a niche. You have a much higher chance of it being played. Its exaclty what happened to my 16 player ffa maps. There was only one, and that wasnt too good for ffa either, so I decided to make some. Those two became my most played maps ever.KaiserJ wrote: the maps that i've made that gained any popularity, the chicken maps, probably only get played a lot because they fit a niche that hadn't been filled yet.
Think of coop or king of the hill maps.
