Thanks swift. I hadn't replied yet cause I didn't originally intend to muck up his thread with unrelated bullspunk.

Concerning gameplay, have you tried any of the 1.x stuff? It's actually pretty darn good :-) A lot better than previous versions.

Long explanation short, yep I would like for someone to remodel them for me (or a whole bunch of someones), I'm working on a bunch of really cool stuff atm (and so is lurker, once his finals stop kicking his ass :-)), and basically this is one of the things that needs to be done.

I'd like to point out that my models themselves aren't THAT bad, but the design of them is extremely bland, and could definitely be done much better by someone who isn't me and actually knows how to work well in a modelling program.

As overkill said, I originally wanted to try doing it myself to see if I could get them to a nicer state (which I accomplished), but nicer in this context doesn't exactly mean good :?

As you said swift, the game is far from neglected, I put a lot of time and a lot of trouble into fixing things as I find them, and a lot of time arguing with google and lurker regarding gameplay changes etc (so far they have won every time, and every time the game has largely benefited from it... All I want is for people who have a complaint is to validate it in a way that makes sense for the betterment of the game, and they are good at doing that).

I suppose the thing I don't trumpet well enough is there there aren't any restrictions on the remodel save one. The weapons have to look like they are capable of firing the current weapon. I'm sure that you all can agree that that is a fairly loose and reasonable request. For example, the terra lighttank shoots a laser. All I want for it's replacement is that the weapon mounted on the tank at least remotely look like it could fire that type of weapon.

Pressureline and overkill, I would LOVE to have anything you would like to contribute, of course everyone gets credit for their own stuff, and the model's / textures don't have to be ccbyncsa or however the hell you say it, like the game itself is.

This extends to everyone else here as well. The design doesn't HAVE to follow a particular asthetic. Lets be honest, TA designs didn't really follow any particular rules and it turned out very well imo. So there is some real freedom here for creativity. :-)

I should probably download a copy of Evo at some point ^_^

I'd just release it as PD anyway.

*edit* yeah Swift, you should probably split this out ;)

I 'spose I could whip up some EXPLORER units between working on steampunk mod, a mod for DF, and real life.

(Actually I am just trying to put off UV mapping a certain over detailed building I made, df mod isnt that time consuming nor is rl)

well, I am going to merge the actual conveyors and they objects they...convey and use the tank track method i think. The thing is, not all objects on the conveyor can share the same textures, as some will glow after they come out of the flame bath, and when they are cooling down after they get "stamped".

Man, I feel bad for derailing poor faceless' thread  can this get split or something?

i have nothing agaunst working for evo team as well ;) Just send me concepts, or at elast some deesscriptions, of race/technology/units so i get a general idea. You should also try asking for help on some forums (blenderartist.org perhaps). Maybe you find artists willing to make models just for practice or to put it in their portfolio ;)
And here si slow progress on ak:

It's my terra lighttank, fires a laser and has a nice bit of los/radar coverage.

This model is retardedly basic so just use your imagination. They are built pretty frequently, prolly 1500 poly limit. Essentially take this, redesign it, and make it not suck balls. It doesn't even need to look remotely the same either. No restrictions other than the fact that it has limited radar and fires a laser.

Still a very nice model, good job Faceless

That big missile truck model has a certain H.R Giger feel to it...

(and yeah, that was supposed to be a compliment ;) ).
