Arne's Core Air Force - Some Models

Re: Arne's Core Air Force - Some Models
LOL.
I spent months making it... give it away... encourage people to use it... it's all GPL, so you know that I damn well know I can't stop you from doing whatever you want... and I'm a bad guy, for wanting to get more people involved?
I'm "lording it over" ... who, exactly? I mean... the minute you start using it, you can fork it or do whatever you want. I can't limit your freedom in any way. I can't dictate anything. There's nothing more free than that.
And with this thing from Arne, I'm saying I want it to be GPL-compliant, because I'm taking that seriously.
I'm not "funneling open efforts into a closed product". It's open, and if somebody else wants to "happen to support it"... they're free to do so. Fork it right now, if you'd like.
What a bunch of BULLSHIT. It's free, it's Open... if you don't like anything about it, feel free to take it and do whatever you want to it. Paint it all green, or whatever.
Haters. I swear. Can't even give people my work for free, without this nonsense.

still have not answered the question. All the content you keep wanting to pull into world builder, will it be used in pure and sold?Argh wrote:LOL.

Re: Arne's Core Air Force - Some Models
You are a master at trying to deflect the main issue. The point of friction is that you engineered a playground where everyone has to open their own work to you in order to play. That way you can easily dive in and "appropriate" what you want without any legal hassles.Argh wrote:I'm not "funneling open efforts into a closed product". It's open...
It isn't for free, the creator has to give away the soul of their work to gain admittance. Gotta love morons that call others haters when people see through your smoke and mirrors.Argh wrote:Haters. I swear. Can't even give people my work for free, without this nonsense.
Re: Arne's Core Air Force - Some Models
If nonsense was a bannable offense, you wouldn't be here.Argh wrote:They should have been banned for this nonsense ages ago.
In case it's not clear longer post follow: actually, your nonsense is of the most damaging kind, since at first glance, you appeare to people that don't know you or the subject as if you knew what you're talking about it.
Countless times, you made an appearance in the most varied Spring-related topics, presenting yourself as the savior, typing long post explaining how you single-handly solved in a brillant way compelx issue. To the random forumer that just skim, you make a good impression. It's only when we take the time to go down unto understanding the content of your post, and have a minimal knownledge of the topic, that we realise it's actually bullshit built upon total nonsense.
I remember seen it first in those threads where you claimed to have revolutionned scripting with fancy words such as desynchronised anims or whatever it was that you named what was already done for years.
Or maybe the first time was when you explained there shouldn't be an unified projectile system because all those "if" would eat your CPU (or other way around, I forgot.)
There's those funny posts where because you peeked at a .cpp you feel entitled to explain the actual Spring devs what should they code, and each time lurker kindly remind you that "it's not how pointer works".
The ones where you go about telling dev how to code maps or shaders without having a clue about how 3D programming works are funny too.
There's the one here, but it wasn't the first time you said that, about your advocating that texture space should be wasted. I'm not at all a texturer, still I know enough to have seen that professional textures from commercial games aren't wasting space, and I witnessed first hand the 0.05FPS in Pure.
Smoth just reminded us of how you called additive a formula just because you saw a + in it, and still wouldn't let go that additive blending means something else.
These are just the current example from the top of my head, but there's way more, that schema keeps repeating over and over.
Your wares are not the only stuff around here that has been given and unused. Half of what jK, Braindamage, trepan code is also ignored. Even when it's done by requests of modders.Argh wrote:I think that it's hilarious that people make such stupid statements, when the fact is that you're too incompetent and lazy to make use of it, despite me giving you a SDK for it months ago.
Oops, looks like I've been pouring negativity again, now AF and Argh are gonna baaaw that these boards are not rosy and cuddly enough. Uh, hey I still value you Argh for being one of the most prolific Spring modders, having built two whole huge mods from scratch.
Re: Arne's Core Air Force - Some Models
well, what argh is saying is we can branch worldbuilder all we want if we wanted it. I was more raising the issue that he is pulling pretty much everything into something he is selling.
Profiting off the work of others as it were. Not metaphorically but directly was my particular issue.
It also is not the wonder solution he promises, it is that he pushes it on people all the while not allowing for any scalability. It only works the way he wants it, to make it work for other stuff would require rewrites. He rages that people do not use it but when i contacted him about possibly using it he was exceptionally rigid and unwilling to work with me. His way or no way as usual, I raged and probably said mean shit. even so his shoving it on people and pulling all content he can into something that i think he is selling...
which he still hasn't answered, is all this content you are pulling going to be used in pure? as in will future expansions be composed mostly of the content taken from the community produced in the spirit of free content?
I want to know, because seeing him pull this has made me want to lock all my work under the stipulation of non-commercial.
wow... that is heavy zwz...

Re: Arne's Core Air Force - Some Models
I've tried WorldBuilder. It's not very useful. I mean, really, I tried to think of something to actually use it for, but it seemed everything it did could be better, more accurately and more sensically done in other ways.
Don't forget, Smoth, Argh politely offered to render some form of compensation to those who contributed things to PURE/WB. Those of us on some hellish mail list were blessed with a message from the great man about his commercialization ideas, and he made it clear we wuold not be forgotten! That when he meets such success we could never dream of, he'd help us out!
We should just sell him our stuff if he wants to use it that badly. Hey, Argh, gimme $100 for those trees!

THAT makes me a little happier spiked at least he offered something in return.
Re: Arne's Core Air Force - Some Models

Ahem! Back to the topic of the thread...
Treeform, your models are excellent. I would really like to see them incorporated into the attempt to add new models to BA.
Despite others calls to re-texture, I think they look quite impressive as-is. If you want to revise your work that should be up to you.

I just want them in modelbase.

Re: Arne's Core Air Force - Some Models
Truly Treeform, they are beautiful, and the fact that you made them in Blender further blows my mind. Its nice to see some of the units in that concept sheet being put to 3D. I truly hope somebody picks them up.
