The reused textures make them look way too similar.

The Resistance's first "hero" unit (IDK whether I'll have time to give players a choice yet). Early WIP, still working some things out in terms of upgrades, etc.

The little bitz on the arm (a jamming device and a shield generator), the gun, the shield and the two back things (a mediocre anti-air missile and a long-range, very long reload manual-fire missile) are all upgrades that can be bought with experience points, along with the general upgrades that are available to all heroes and the special powers for this hero.

The Resistance hero is supposed to become a well-rounded unit that is useful on offense and defense, with no really special area of dominance and good all-around abilities as it levels.

The sheild seems cumbersome, is it going to be solid or transparent?

I want to see stuff actually bounce off that shield. Also have user-customizable shield pictures that get printed on it, by stealing ca's avatar code and using some sort of particle system to tack it on there.

Reminds me of some of the 2nd-line mechs from the second Robotech series (the Southern Cross setting). Looks good.

The Overmind hero. A slow, ponderous, defense / assault unit, with massive firepower and armor once it has been leveled a bit. Can be equipped with two anti-air missiles, a continuous-fire vlaunch missile that can reach over most terrain, and massive firepower from its triple cannons, plus its special powers and general hero upgrades. Dropped from a Tier 3 AirTransport, it's probably the most effective non-nuke assault unit in the game.

It...

It looks like a walking chess piece. With arms and legs. A triangular rook. I'm still not entirely sure why it's reminding me of that, but when I look at it, I just think 'Rook'.

This is, of course, only a bad thing if you weren't aiming for that...

what the hell are you using to showcase these models? it's crap.
Just use wings, you can actually see wtf is going on.

I don't much like the head on the 2nd model. It might look cool with texture but atm it looks ghey

First one looks good aside from the head.
The head seems so simple compared to everything else.
Second one,and this is brutal i know,is horrible.
I cant say what about it looks bad but It just looks like something out of this : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NczbiiXWfQ0

It looks like a cross of several styles, and doesnt seem to have some coherent shape the eyes can easily grasp.

the torso is very rook piece like but the pelvis, please fix it. it is unreasonably blocky and TA low poly-ish

Yeah, that. The thing just doesn't look like it could walk - I mean, its legs are so widely spread and the body looks so heavy that I can't imagine it lifting up a single leg without falling over.

Hmm. I'll take another look at the torso / pelvis. I was wanting to reference The Can and Ork dreadnaughts, both of which feature a really wide stance, without stealing too heavily from either and keeping the angular harshness of the Overmind's style. I'll think about what can be redone there.

Maybe some kind of massive clawed feet that look like they could keep it from tipping... aren't the Can's feet positioned more _undeneath_ the bulky body instead of sticking down beside it?

The Ork Dreadnought never looked like it should be able to move to me either. Maybe doing that weird squat-walk like a sumo wrestler... your mech doesn't even look capable of that, though, since it doesn't seem to have that squat leg positioning.

well if you want a convincing movement but you want to retain that block form, maybe try a quad or hexapod spider leg configuration?
