intrude/extrude?
Do you want a "tunnel" or just a small hole/dent?
Maybe paint a picture of what you want to do.

i want to connect that to areas, to make a tunnel there, so when the rocket starts, a gate should open and let "steam" out

edit. my failure i could extrude an area there, its not necessary to connect them to the inner tube

Just in case you want to connect the launch tube to the steam pipe:
The bridge command works for tunnels too.
It can connect two faces, or if there is "material" between the faces it creates a tunnel.
I think that is not possible with extrude.
