found out yesterday that they're making a new mad max movie
100 mil budget... is it possible that it could actually be any good? lets hear some speculation (i love the mad max movies; the road warrior being my favourite)
quite a few decent zombie and post-apocalyptic movies out recently so it bodes well
who do you dudes think would be the actor to play a good mad max?
Saw Zombieland finally... I get the feeling it was trying to be preachy but just came off as silly... I can't say it was a good thriller or a good comedy... even as a "romzomcom" (Romantic Zombie Comedy), it's bellow, "Boy Eats Girl", "Sean of the Dead" and even "My Boyfriends Back"... but I enjoyed it anyway... I'm not entirely sure... maybe it was the cinematography or something?
I didn't disagree with either, but most thrillers are not revenge films, and I hold revenge films to a higher standard. The weaknesses of Taken were in writing, pacing and cinematography. It is still a decent film, and I like it. I own a physical copy.
Though I probably shouldn't respond to you. If you work from the opinions of critics you neither know nor interact with then you do yourself a disservice. Of course I'm biased, I have an opinion and I'm human. We're all biased.
I'm not sure who I would go with for Mad Max. Zombieland didn't have a lot of content, it is more of a background film for a party, or perhaps something to leave on while painting or drawing.
I have a problem with Christian Bale. To me he always seems an awkward, lifeless actor. I have no explanation why my perception clashes with general opinion in this regard, I just know it does. Seems bobthedinosaur maybe has a similar issue with liam neeson?

they will fuck it up, obviously. mad max movies were rather low budget. i have a feeling the new one will be all cgi blockbuster like transformers 2 which is just fail for a gritty movie with car chases.
They should take their 100 million and use it to brainwash a couple thousand people they are the last people on earth and dump them in a desert with a bunch of trucks, guns and hidden cameras... just cut together a film about the first guy to figure out the game and escape.
I always thought Mad max had potential, but not as cgi movie. More in the horror direction, survivors cutting out each others tumors - and in fact, the good postapocalypso flics had that.
also for me its pretty fkd up. post apocalyptic movie where moving car is a miracle with 100 mln budget ? that makes no sense....
...you could make a Mad Max film with a stretch of desert, access to a junk yard... and a few of the guys from "Junk Yard Wars" and "Myth Busters"... and just spend the other 99 million on explosives and midgets.
The cool thing about bale and all the other new-generation action heroes is- that they are absolutly replaceable, the gordon freemans of cinema. Theyve got to fit on average joe in the seat, beeing a good actor is no longer required, although Bale was really good in Equilibrium, playing somebody stripped of emotions :D

His responses seem to be adequate...
Maybe you haven watched him in a film that demands high acting abilities...
Maybe try watching, ehhm... "The Machinist" or "Laurel Canyon"
I think "The Machinist" is the only movie where I thought Bale did a great job. Haven't seen "LC". Otherwise I'm with momfreeek on this one.
I think it had some major casting issues...Dannis hopper as the bad guy was probably the biggest mistake in that movie...
The only place for him is in movies like Blue velvet...
In water world i mostly enjoyed When they showed how they all lived....
It's like in Avatar...The "national geographic" part was the best and the following action and conflict ruined it.

I don't know, I like the sci-fi/world part a lot but... there were a also lot of pretty awesome explosions... and skidoo chases.
